    • who say no.1 family is above all?

Tell me which no.1 family in the world has experience like this?

I am pity for No.1 parent, and especially the grand parent.

July 13, 2007,PM Lee's son in NS reprimanded by SAF,By Sandra Davie Strait Times 13.07.2007,page H4.

...In a statement yesterday, Colonel Benedict Lim, director of public affairs at the Ministry of Defence (Mindef), said:

'2nd Lt Li was found to have contravened the General Orders of Mindef by broadcasting his letter of complaint to many other servicemen - almost all of whom were neither directly under his command, nor in an official capacity where they could deal with the matters contained in his letter of complaint.'

Col Lim added: 'He has been formally charged and administered a reprimand after a summary trial.'

The Straits Times understands that a summary trial deals with less serious military offences and is normally presided over by a senior disciplinary officer who may serve with the soldier's own unit or is appointed to oversee the trial from another unit.....

    • This is their internal problem...

why would they want to publicise it?

To prove something? Or divert attention? Or make a point?

In any case, we're mostly interested in Bread and Butter issues...

That should be classified Personal Affairs of the PM's...

Most likely because it already send to fellow NS. And in order not to look like a coup. The law has to take place.

An military officer does not respect the chain of command....how to lead? I think he should be court martial.

The other question would be. Would u fight side by side with him? does he fight for his man or he follow doctorine and become so far out of reality?

    • What is very disturbing is that this resulted from internet “breaking news” stories… looks like we have to turn to the internet for real sg politics news.

    • There's always more to the story than what is published by our mainstream media.

The gist of the article was meant to imply that the SAF does not show preferential treatment to anyone, not even a PM's son. Hence his email spam was taken to task, despite the white horse status.

On the other hand, his actions may have been forced because he felt other officers were disregarding the rules and regs with impunity and the senior officers weren't doing anything about it despite being informed repeatedly. He may have just exposed a lack of integrity in the chain of command which suggests favourism and selective discipline among the officers.

That can of worms which has persisted for so long in the SAF may now be in the public eye.

    • it's the power of the new media, if it wasn't picked up by the forums, the case would have gone unnoticed.....

looks like whoever is the scholar co of his unit will not see anymore promotion, that is if he manages to organise an ndp in the near future....lol

    • We, who have served NS know that there are always several breaches of regulation during our service, but these mostly goes unreported, because nothing eventful happened, or “we close one eye”.

    • I'm just curious how he got to his current position anyway. Is it really through his capabilities or just string-pulling? Rolling Eyes
