    • Dr Chee is building international support for his cause and apparently Dr Balaji of the PAP agrees that that is the right way to go:

He said ASEAN would do what it can to help Myanmar, but said
the whole international community has to make an effort to have any effect on the country's military government.

      Shocked

He agrees in principle that is the correct procedure with what Dr Chee has been doing all along.

You agree with Dr Balaji and Dr Chee Soon Juan that this is the right way to go?

    • I thought you complained about Dr Chee seeking international help for his cause?

So apparently this is international practice. That when you are dealing with despots, you seek international help to help make the despots come to their senses.

Because that is his cause and not the collective cause of the entire nation.

    • Words that the Burmese murderers would say... you seem to love taking the sides of those blood thirsty despots. They even bussed truck loads of people according to the BBC, to attend pro-government rallies. Laughing

    • Aung San Suu Kyi won the election and is the rightful prime minister of Myanmar. Chee Soon Juan/SDP gets severely raped in every election. Despite his calls 10,000 protestors hasn’t appeared on the streets.

Not believing in Chee doesn't mean that i absolutely support PAP. Agreeing with PAP doesn't mean i'm against the other opposition parties. I'm not an extremist.

    • ah... that was because the Burmese dictators allowed Aung San SK a free and fair election... if Singapore has free and fair elections, the same thing would happen.... Rolling Eyes

    • I believe that the opposition need manpower and perhaps more funds. Those who seriously have an issue with the government may perhaps consider making a political donation to the party that they are aligned with or even consider joining their ranks.

If you can predict Singaporean's will so accurately, then we wouldn't even need an election, just ask you who should lead can liao.

I don't really have an allegiance, if you ask me to choose between PAP and WP etc i would have my reasons to vote for either. That is however secondary.

Our elections are free. The fair part is a little debatable(why the gerrymandering and the need for GRCS etc) but those eligible to vote can vote for whoever they want. You cannot honestly believe the majority of Singaporean voters will vote for CSJ, or the SDP for that matter Laughing

Just look at how badly they did in the last 2 GEs compared to the WP for starters.

CSJ for PM? Please, he can't even get himself elected as an MP Laughing

    • Its the other way around.
The government as a whole, has been saying all along that ASEAN and the international community should deal with the Myanmar crisis. China and Japan are quite influential with the military junta. The government is also hopeful on the UN envoy Mr Ibrahim Gambari.
The government advice caution, as overnight turnover would mean Myanmar turning into turmoil.

Therefore it is CSJ, who agrees with the government Minister, if he say an international effort is required.

I think what Andrew is trying to say is that if we call for international efforts in Myanmar, Chee is not wrong in attracting international media for his cause outside Istana.

    • Free and Fair elections does not start and end with the GE.

Free and fair elections starts with the opposition having a voice to convince the people the advantage of supporting their positions.

Free and fair elections starts with the opposition being able to attract credible people without having these people persecuted by dishonorable despots.

Singapore has free and fair elections?

      Don't make my toes laugh.

If Singapore has free and fair elections, these dishonorable despots would have been kicked out so fast, they do not have time to say "Dr Chee Soon Juan".

    • If Dr Balaji can promote the idea of the international community working to act against despots, then Dr Chee is fully justified in building his case for the international community to consider.
