Molester gets jail, cane after assault on boy

A MAN who appeared nude in public and tried to pull down the shorts of a 12-year-old boy was jailed for 3 1/2 years and ordered to be given three strokes of the cane on Wednesday.
Desiyantoh Zainal, 23, admitted to attempted aggravated molestation by pulling the student out from the lift of a block of flats in Bukit Batok to the staircase landing on June 27 and to three other charges under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act.
A court heard that the 12-year-old student was on his way to school that morning when Desiyantoh, who was naked from the waist down, tried to block the lift door. He pulled the boy's right hand and dragged him out to the staircase landing, covered his mouth with one hand and grabbed his neck with the other. He asked the boy to take off his shorts but he refused and struggled.
Desiyantoh then let go of the boy's neck and tried to pull down his shorts. The boy shouted for help.
He also appeared nude at a block of flats in Bukit Batok on Oct 18 and on the previous day, committed an obscene act before a 14-year-old boy.
Two other charges were taken into consideration.
He has a previous conviction for appearing nude in 2004.
