SINGAPORE : Households and businesses in Singapore will have to pay more for electricity from next year.
SP Services said tariffs will be going up from the first quarter of 2008.
A statement released on Wednesday showed that the new rates will hit a sixyear high for households and small businesses.
SP Services attributed the higher cost of electricity to higher fuel prices.
On average, the tariffs will go up by 5.94 percent. This translates into an increase of about S$1.30 in the monthly bill of households staying in oneroom flats.
Residents of 5room flat units are likely to pay about S$5.50 more each month.
The rates are reviewed and adjusted according to fluctuating electricity costs every quarter, and they have been approved by industry regulator, the Energy Market Authority. CNA /ls

Investment Strategy:
(1) Gain control of Singapore reserves and savings
(2) Buy and Buy
(3) If gain, keep gains and telecast to world.
If loss, "honest mistake" and become long term holder
(4) Replenish by raising prices of services like SPH, SBS, Comfort Delgro, SingTel, Starhub, Singapore Power, etc
(5) Repeat step (1)
Now that Temasek go and buy so many US banks, be prepared to pay and pay!
Predict bus fares will be next to rise!
Remember you heard it here first!

Lower bus fares to be introduced October
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007-12-10
LOWER bus fares will be introduced across Shenzhen from October to encourage greater use of public transport.
According to a timetable released Tuesday, a detailed plan will be prepared by July and a hearing held in September before the new bus fares are announced.
The city government will subsidize bus companies to introduce the lower fares.
At present, the city's bus fares are market-led and the government only subsidizes extra costs caused by fuel price rises and free transport for elderly and disabled residents.
Deputies at last month's MPC session voiced their concerns over high bus fares in Shenzhen, suggesting the government offer subsidies.
Residents have complained about the different fare system in operation inside and outside the special economic zone.
Guo Weiping, an MPC deputy, said bus pass users in Beijing could enjoy a 40-percent discount when using public transport, and the Beijing municipal government offered 3.13 billion yuan (US$401.28 million) this year to support public transport.

Their government really listen to the people's complaints, and counter with concrete action, no lip service, no excuses in blaming the high oil prices, income gap, high operation costs blah blah blah. They work for the PEOPLE and NOT for themselves.
Those WHITES should take a lesson or two from the 'communist' Don't just think of the bottom-lines when the people are suffering, drastic action must be taken.
I have given up hope on lower cost of living in Spore. Coz its not in the WHITES agenda. This place is : Four Words - FOR THE RICH ONLY

I though the power station is operated by natural gas piped from Indonesia and the price of the natural gas had been fixed for many years. Why woud SP need to increase tariffs due to higher crude oil price?

The Poodle Master have honoured his words by "helping the poor".
In 2007,
the slave peasants have helped the "poor":
- bus company from making shamelss profits without spending a cent on improving the service and frequency.
- taxi company from raising the price and "still" not solving the original mystery of "missing" taxi drivers.
- poodles who won elections uncontested and yet to prove any of their worth in terms of speaking out for the peasants. They are more concerned of not incurring the anger of the old hogger. Even the opposting poodles have joined in the action of keeping their mouth zipped.
- prataman who have must be the most unproductive and shameless man on earth, which have earned his MEGA increment for at least 4 times this year.
- cable company for increasing the price of the ball ball channel with lousy commentary and constant surprise of match disruption.
- hawkers who have followed the GREAT EXAMPLES of the POODLES by increasing the price of food to make "world class" profit.
- electric company that is more bullish that the stock market for constant and updated adjustment to its price but alway sluggish in adjusting the fees downward.
- two famous "charity" to achieve "world class profits and excess" earning that leave the rest of charities crying more share of the pie.
With such impressive results of helping the poor, that is why the Poodle Master have such a vision to given himself a fat bonus and increment at the beginning of the year.
How blessed is the peasants of sin city !!!

on 26-Dec (Wed), ch5 9.30pm news reported also, though electricity bills go up by 5+% in Jan-08, and inflation goes up in Q4 of 2007, consumers are currently still spending more in Q4 2007, as this is due to wages increase, and a bouyant economy outlook.
NTUC has reported an increase in sales, and consumers are spending more in basic necessities. However, the news also said that suppliers' profit margins are now smaller, also sales is increased.
Personally, i need to to eat everyday, and travel. I need to spend these money everyday, anyway. To live one day without any cents to spend is only a commonality for certain group of people but not all.Edited by lotiman 27 Dec `07, 4:46AM

The increase in population will lead to competition for resources and services, which will lead to more cost increases. That's why they predicted over 4% inflation for the coming year(s).

Agree. They will kicked out becoz they will become corrupt due to low pay package, as suggested by the WHITES when justifying their ridiculous payrise. The Chinese people need not pay their ministers millions to defray high transportation cost. I think we are gettin short changed here. Give me a 'communist' leader anytime mate.

where does this madness end?
I'll tell you where; when the FAP ends....The poor have to use the corridor light to do things. Like in the past, using neighbour's candle light from a hole to study.
We save, they increase. We save & save, they increase & increase. Making the whole public services like business.
