My adopted long-term home, Singapore, is having its worst outbreak of mosquito-borne dengue fever in recent memory according to an AFP article carried in Voice-of-the-State, China Daily. Don't underestimate what a big deal this is for Singapore, which invests huge amount of effort into mosquito control and which prides itself on being the one Southeast Asian nation that you would actually consider raising your children in. This is being called the biggest health crisis in Singapore since SARS. That's really saying something, because I remember SARS in Singapore, and it was a spooky and weird time.
