Congratulations to denying a party continued happiness in the name of Democracy!
People have the right to end their reign. That is democracy 101.
The TAIWAN people have proven to the world their democracy is alive and well!
When a ruling party is overthrown,
will TAIWAN stock market and econcomy crash? Of course not!
Like in usa, no matter who wins, the economy continues ! sometimes becoming even better!!!
what does this imply?

Wake up your idea, kiddo! Whilst China and Singapore have done well economically over the past few years riding on the global stock market boom, Taiwan's economy had stagnated. Talk of democracy, mindless protests in the streets and fighting in parliament have not improved the lives of the people. Why do you think the Taiwanese want a change in government now? It's the economy, stupid!

Singapore stock market didnt crash either, neither has the business stop earning generally
So which one would you have, a squabbling parliament who need to resort to violence, or a stable government?
Not that I am ready to support PAP, but I think using stock market, business profits and squabblings parliaments as benchmarks isnt the way to go

As excited as I am about KMT's victory, I will be cautiously optimistic about TW's relationship with Mainland China in the immediate future. For one, the victory of the legislature election do not automatically means victory for the presidential election and it is the President which will hold the executive power to improve the relationship with Mainland China. Although with more than 3/4 seats under KMT, the party can now pass and reject any law it wishes and even amend the constitution or impeach the President.
Secondly, even if Ma Yingjiu wins the President election, there may be little that he can do to reverse what DPP has done. Chen had for the past two terms, very successfully, instill within the Taiwan folks a sense of fear for an eventual reunification with Mainland China. And Ma has little chance of improving relationship without triggering this fear and hence offering an opportunity to the soon to be opposition DPP to rally the Taiwanese. This will have implication for the next election which KMT no doubt has little interest in losing. The best Ma can hope is that both Mainland and Taiwan will just leave things aside to cool, but if he wins the election, it is likely that Mainland will want some sort of clarification from him.
I suspect that his policy would be to increase economical and cultural exchanges across the straits with the hope that Taiwanese will understand Mainland more but downplay the official political stand.

Taiwan economy remain stagnated because it is technically still at war with China. Therefore, Taiwan is unable to enjoy the economical bloom in China like other Asian countries. If Taiwan is to put much of its investment in China, that will put Taiwan at a disadvantage.
Similarly, if Singapore and Malaysia relationship have been very bad, the Singapore gov will not be stupid enough to invest in Malaysia, right?

Glad that the people made their choice to stand firm to show they want a better life in Taiwan. As a result, DPP suffers great and pathetic loss. hooray. What about the people of Singapore?
Ma will not rule Taiwan like the Lees. The last time he was here he made it clear that though he praised Singapore but what is practised here does not apply to Taiwan as Taiwan is a democratic country. Glad he knows we are not totally democratic or not democratic at all.
