Now it is not just getting serious, it is very serious......

... the US sub-prime crisis does not look like it is contained. It looks like it will get a lot worse before it gets better possibly with big casualties and by the time it gets better, many people would be badly hurt financially.

... the crisis had led to a crisis in the stock markets, which would wipe out even more money from the financial systems.

... with a deteriorating trust in money, what would happen is that, those with goods and commodities, will not be willing to sell you at the same price, they would want more money or they might not even want money but would prefer to exchange other goods or services with you.

... while all these are not the Sg despots fault, they made policies that put Singapore under great financial risks.

You need to understand something about Singapore (as if you didn't already know) and that is, Reporters sans frontières places Singapore near the bottom of the list of countries with the worse press freedom.

Singapore might look good on the outside and for the short term but without press freedoms and other democratic freedoms, the long term survival of the country will always be questionable.

Despots do what they like and for their own benefits.

They will be willing to put the country at risk because personally, it does not affect them since they are taking so much in public money. All they need is 5 years and they and their family would be financially sound with all the public money they take.

The risks they take, to give their cronies and themselves even more money at the expense of the majority and at the expense of the financial health of the country, with no democratic checks and balances, will not have any dissenting voice in the mass media.

People will be fooled by the propaganda.

My thread, Looks like it is getting serious was locked because the supporters of the despots do not want anything other than the propaganda to go out. The want to be able to keep on taking public money at will and be able to make policies to their benefit even if it is at the expense of the rest of the people and the country.

You are only doing yourself a disfavor and your children a disfavor by giving despots so much power and not speaking up against their despotic behavior.

Profiteering from Singaporeans through their local busineeses and losing the money to foreigners.
