Our neighbour across the causeway ord axing their foreign workers, declaring that Malaysia is for Malaysians, and the jobs should be for the local countrymen who toild the lands.
What about us?
Look around us, China, Indian and all kind of nationals crowding our island, using our space, and taking our jobs.
When will Singapore be for Singaporeans?
KUALA LUMPUR Go local. This is the message to employers as the Malaysian government plans to send up to half a million foreign workers packing next year.
Worst hit will be the service industry hotels, restaurants, petrol stations and cleaning services and agriculture.
The move is part of efforts to bolster job opportunities and pay for locals; a senior official was quoted as saying yesterday.
"We have been lax with the ruling to allow employers to cut costs with cheaper foreign labour," the Home Affairs Ministry's secretary-general Raja Azahar Raja Abdul Manap told the Star newspaper.

I think that for so called low-skilled jobs, priority should be given to local workers
However, for highly skilled professions, there should be competition. In addition, companies in these industries should be taxed slightly on each employment of a foreign worker to reduce the factor of wages when under comparison.

This is not the first time the Malaysian government take action to clear immigrants, especially the illegal ones. Malaysia has 2.1 to 2.3 million foreign workers, against the limit of 1.8 million set by their government, which means about 0.5 millions are illegal. To find these people, they have to sweep the construction sites, plantation, factories and restaurants. Are they many Malaysians who are prepared to replace them? from previous experience, NO! After a while, when malaysian contractors can't find workers, they again will lan lan bring in the foreigners, legally or illegally. LPPL, as always with their government.
Where are the foreigners in Singapore? construction sites, factories, restaurants, HDB and private houses where maids are working. are Singaporean prepared to replace them? work as construction workers building the MRT, the expressway, the IDR... to do without maids and do your own laundry (how many of you here do your own laundry, clean your own rooms?) ...to serve in restaurants... even to drive buses and MRT?
If you are not, then let those who can do the job. They finish the job they go home. Singapore remains Singaporeans'.

I stay at around Serangoon Garden, I see many angmoh around, from French School and Australian School, and the Australian School is expanding after opened for 2 years. I don't see Chinese or Indian except for a few doing reconstruction of some landed properties there.
May be you should migrate to Australia to take up their jobs, use their space and crowd their cities.

And seriously those Sg's that have maids and sons not doing laundry all that .... are people that are affluent ..... if you pay well enough you'll find Sg's doing those jobs...... we have so many uncles doing Mcdonalds already

You are right, the point of my question wasn't clear. Thank you for asking for clarification.
Foreign workers run the range from China to India to Phillipines to Malaysian to Myanmar to Burma to UK to US to Australia to France and so on.
Banks may bring in people already familiar with their systems instead of training someone local. MNCs may post staff here to give them a greater global experience. Foreign companies may import staff to serve foreigners who live locally. The list goes on.
I wasn't sure if he had a view on these foreign workers as well. However he is muslim and I assumed he was malay (I may be wrong).
It is easy to point fingers at "others" and not look deeper. But having to point the finger at "yourself" makes you re-examine the issue. Which is why I only mentioned Malaysians.
I realize now my post was very, very vague.

I have a problem with the government and companies giving jobs that Singaporeans are competent in doing to the foreigners, sometimes because these foreigners command a lower pay.
i dont know how banks, but i think it would be more cost effective if the bank brought the people who knows how to operate the system to train the locals on how to use the system. As the bank would have to pay for the people's food and lodging in the country.

You have a problem with companies hiring people who offer to work for less for the same quality of work comparatively?

Due to the over-protective policy and "You die Your business" mindset of the poodles, most of the singaporeans have already MOVED out of singapore.
Once you moved to another place in which you can achieved some form of work and life balance, you will not want to return a place where work till you die, your money is not your money, your car is not your car, driving is being fined everywhere you go, your house is pathetic over-valued pigeon hole.
Sin city is already over-infested with foreign talent given free scholarship over poor locals who pay tax and dun enjoy any benefits.
So, there are really NO sin peasants around.

If Singapore chase away all the foreign immigrants...
1) How will Singapore increase the population to 8million so we can get tax from them. They may earn little but $100 from 8 million is better than $120 from 4 million.
2) Who will vote of our government since Singaporeans are an "ungrateful" bunch whereas foreigners worship our government.
