Behind all "peaceful" demonstration there is always the master hand. Demonstraters are genuinely peaceful, but they are only pawns in the game. They always fail to subdue the thugs to desist from violence, which provokes the police. And the master mind behind the "peaceful" demonstration, will call it a success.

During the cold war, CIA instigated the tibetians to rise up against chinese rule:

Not sure whether there is truth in the "cultural genocide" claim.

Yup riots have broken out in Tibet and they have made news headlines worldwide. I believe that Beijing should give Tibet more autonomy and perhaps accord Tibet with something like HK's status.
The events made news headlines on CNN,BBC etc. What I don't understand is why worse, larger scale violence taking place in other parts of the world have been largely ignored by the international media?
Has anyone heard of the violence in Jammu and Kashmir? Read here:
http://archive.peacemagazine.org/v18n1p18.htm
http://www.countercurrents.org/hashmi240407.htm

Needless to say many Kashmiris are fed up with the violence and are pushing for independence. Has anyone ever heard of the Kashmir Freedom Movement? Read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashmir_Freedom_Movement
Does anyone know about the ongoing war in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh? I didn't know until I read this:
http://www.countercurrents.org/chandra100907.htm
http://www.channel4.com/news/microsites/U/unreportedworld/india.html
Anyone heard of the Lord's Resistance Army and the civil war in Uganda?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord's_Resistance_Army
The list goes on and on.
Nowadays there is so much focus on China that worse atrocites taking place elsewhere are being ignored. That's ridiculous.

Pok,dont side China just becoz China is ruled by Chinese.Singapore also ruled by Chinese politicians, but look at the way our PAP treated us. In a dictatorial country like Singapore and China, the governing politicians only care about their own benefits, like money, power, fame etc. They dont care about their own ppl,not to mention other races.

Tibet "culture" was a society of people practically serving as serfs to the tibetian monks.
Tibet "culture" is Tibet's culture. If we don't like it, what shall we replace it with. Chinese Socialist culture or American Liberalism culture. Shall we decide on behalf of the poor Tibetians?

You don't replace it with anything. It's ALREADY been replaced. Tibet was "liberated" by china half a century ago. What, we're going to turn back time just like that?
Cultures are lost as time goes by. The sooner you learn that, the better. Or would you also like to revert back to the kampong culture of your fathers? Do you think your parents grew up watching TV and playing the PSP? When was the last time you went to catch spiders? To fish in the nearby drain?
Or to the extreme, when was the last time you bothered to ask what the culture was like here, before we turned Temasek into Singapore? We are invaders from China and it's neighbours too. Would you like to be sent packing?

when it comes down to it, tibet is now part of china. Who are you to decide against China?
just because it's china ? ... are you kowtowing to the country because it's rapidly becoming rich and powerful ? ...
and who says tibet is part of china ? .... the chinese ? ... or the tibetans ? ... who should decide ? .....
you're exhibiting curious logic ...

mmmmm
tibet has been part of china for the better part of the last century. You're accusing me of kowtowing to china because it is powerful? Nay, I'm siding with china in the way you are siding with the local rebels.
The chinese decided many MANY years ago that tibet was part of it by invading. There are NO "tibetans" anymore. Tibetans are as different from the chinese as hongkongers are.
But let's give your argument some weight. You're right in a way. Who says Tibet has to be part of China indefinately? The way I see it, only two parties get a say in it. China and Tibet. I fail to see why you think any outside force should have any say in it.

so military force is, in your books, .... right ? ....
so "the chinese decided many MANY years ago that tibet was part of it by invading. There are NO "tibetans" anymore.".... woah ....
so according to your logic, when Iraq invaded kuwait in the first gulf war, no one should give a flying fark, cos there are only two parties involved, Iraq, and Kuwait, right ? ..... funny, you know saddam hussein called all kuwaitis new Iraqis after he invaded ? .... again, I fail to see your curious logic ....
so if Singapore gets swallowed up by our neighbours to our north or south, we become "local rebels" in your books ? ... and we should all suck it up and kowtow to our new masters, accept a new identity ? .....
I do notice many chinese cultural chauvinists, not neccessarily chinese nationals, proclaiming tibet to be part of china ... are you simply one of them ? ....
