The first carpark ERP gantry is operational today in Bukit Mahti. The 24/7 operational gantry is LTA's latest attempt to curb traffic congestion problem. LTA's spokesperson said, "Our previous policies to curb traffic congestions is not very effective. By setting up gantries in both major and minor roads simply doesn't solve the problem. Over the years we tried very hard to think of better ways to solve the problem, we even raised the ERP price, but it wasn't working as well. After many discussions, we finally decided that every carpark should have a gantry. Works are already in progress to add gantries to all carparks. This very first carpark gantry symbolizes our will to stop traffic congestion problem once and for all!"
"I think this a very effective method to reduce road congestions. Now people will think twice before they even decide to leave the carpark." Mr Jin Wu Lui, a resident using the carpark, said, "But it doesn't really matter to me, because I have the money to pay for that."
Works are already in progress to add gantries to all carparks. And works are expected to be completed by year end. This guy really knows the States Times propagana style. They always add some ghost Singaporean to say price hike is good. =)
