    • Mr Lee Kuan Yew, 85 years old (2008), did not and does not look forward to retirement though money isn't a consideration.  His passion for Singapore is evident for all to see.  At this age, his energy can match a mid forty.  A very high standard for any Singaporean to emulate.

LKY can make more money by travelling around the world giving speeches. And lets not forget that LKY is an advisor to one of the world largest bank.

Please dont insult LKY by comparing him to Dr. M.

Which standard are u tokin abt? His 'passion', or health?

IMO, to him money of cos is not a consideration since he has oready earnin so much.  It's all abt power.  He is, afterall a pioneer in the establishment of SG, & marker of SG now..He has all the money to keep himself healthy & alive, so tat he can still continue to hold onto the reins.  I wld too, if i were him.  So sorry to say, I failed to see the "Passion" part in ur post.

This shameless fellow. He keep on defending Lee Kuan Yew, spread Lee Kuan Yew's propaganda and sings the praises of Lee Kuan Yew.

But don't dare to disclose his relationship with Lee Kuan Yew.

Then ask him donate his pay every month to charity. Don't keep any, since it is a passion and money isn't a consideration.

    • Many of us would aim at retiring early : self interest.

Mr Lee KY works pretty hard even at 85 : for the country.

To say he works at 85 for the power?  I think he could make ten trips to beautiful beaches around the world without losing his power a bit.  Most of us would do this also.  He did not.  Mr Lee showed us a very high standard of "sacrificial" spirit for the community.

For he so loves Singapore that he gave his only second son.

Must be extremely hard work, going for tours on taxpayer's money, sitting around doing nothing and get paid $4 to $5 millions a year.

This kind of job scope and pay scale, I will also want to work till I kick the bucket. icon_lol.gif

If you pose this question to any elderly above 80, they will all agree to take on the job with no reservations. A whole lot better than getting paid $4.50 an hour at Macdonalds or scavenging for aluminium cans in rubbish bins.

Do you have any idea if LKY has a hobby?

If you stop telling lies, you might have a chance to become LKY in next life.

    • Would there be any leader who would refuse this kind of retirement  post?

I am sure Russia's Putin is also "self-sacrifical" like MM. Control power + get $$$ but if any problem cocks up, the baton has already been passed on

LKY is old enough to be Putin's father.

    • ... oh I'm sure he isn't looking forward to expiring either, not just retirement...

... with all the money and power, who would wanna retire or expire at any age?

... sure, so you expect that everyone toiling under his administration should do the same....

... put old LKY in the shoes of any old chap toiling just to get by with no retirement in sight and see if he wishes to expire first or retire or not...

I dont see the logic in what you are saying. If LKY is still contributing to the country, I dont see why he shouldnt continue being a MM. Plus even if he steps down, I am sure weak minded Singaporeans will still be made to believe he is controlling PM Lee.

To me, these are just stupid excuses which will only make sense to people without common sense.

    • There are certain things that i don't like about him, but he has made alot of crucial decisions for Singapore's success. I have to admit he is someone difficult for anyone to emulate. His son has a long long way.

I am sure majority of the people here will not agree with you. but you cant blame them, people are simply blinded by their own agenda.
