How conceited a

Where were you on August 2007,
when it was reported that a Mexican by the name of <a href=

be impartial again, and perhaps even attempt to get a free

Singapore's key exports down 10.5% in May on-year
Posted: 17 June 2008 1528 hrs

SINGAPORE - Singapore's key exports fell 10.5 percent in May
compared with a year earlier, with pharmaceutical shipments down
nearly half amid lower exports to the United States and Europe, the
government said on Tuesday.

The fall in non-oil domestic exports (NODX) was the largest
since December 2006 when they dropped 14 percent, Fortis Bank
economist Joseph Tan told Dow Jones Newswires.

NODX fell in May after a 5.3 percent gain in April, said the
trade promotion body, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.

On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, NODX dropped 9.8
percent last month, compared with a gain of 1.6 percent in April,
it said.

That fall was much greater than the 0.4 percent drop forecast in
a poll of economists by Dow Jones Newswires.

"The degree of weakness (for Singapore) is pretty striking,"
Robert Prior-Wandesforde, an economist at HSBC in Singapore, said.
"Most other countries in Asia have seen exports pick up over the
last few months."

IE Singapore said NODX to the European Union dropped 28.0
percent year-on-year in May after a 16.8 percent rise the previous
month, while shipments to the United States fell 22.3 percent,
exceeding the 16.9 percent drop in April.

Singapore's export-reliant economy grew slower than estimated in
the year's first quarter, at 6.7 percent, as demand weakened due to
a slowdown in the United States and other key markets, the
government said last month.

The country's de facto central bank in April said it had further
tightened monetary policy in a bid to address a sharp rise in
inflation. The bank's move sent the local dollar to record highs,
making exports more costly for buyers.

Monthly NODX figures are a closely watched barometer of the
health of Singapore's economy.

Non-electronic shipments shrank by 11.8 percent, led by
pharmaceuticals, which dropped 48.5 percent compared with the same
month a year earlier, IE Singapore said.

Domestic exports of electronic goods continued the decline
started in February last year with a further shrinkage of 8.5
percent overall. The consumer electronics segment was down 30.6
percent, IE Singapore said.

"With the harsh reality of a US-led slowdown in demand weighing
on export performance, the manufacturing sector will need to brace
itself for the difficult times ahead," DBS Group Research said
ahead of the data release.

Total trade rose 15.6 percent to S$78.6 billion, compared with
21.2 percent growth in April, IE Singapore said.

The government of Singapore, Southeast Asia's most advanced
economy, has stuck to its full-year GDP growth estimate of four to
six percent. - AFP/ir

I thought that was a bigger number than expected.

China Singapore Bilateral Trade made simple:-

This post is for the benefit of readers to discern facts from
half truths and lies. Simple analogies would be used for simpler
understanding, for village idiots like Atobe still exists in
Singapore.

Only a DeerHunter will
attempt unlicensed buskering acts in this Speakers'
Corner, with a never failing efforts to hustle public opinions
to reinforce a weak position.

1.Imports and Exports

----------------------------

A. ) Exports to China:

I purchase materials, made a table and exported it to
China. China pays me S$43 dollars.

B.) Import from China:-

I saw online China had 3 chairs to sell. I don't need 3 chairs,
as i am only 1 person, but there is a bulk discount if i buy all 3.
So I paid S$48 dollars for all 3 chairs. I kept 1 and sold the
other 2 to Indonesia and Australia, countries further away at a
slightly higher price from me for a profit.

On paper, it looks like I paid $5 more than i buy from China.
But in actual fact, i didn't, for i don't need so many chairs as i
am only a population of 1. I sold the other 2 China chair and made
a small profit.

Multiply those chair a billion times and you will see how
important bilateral trade with the factory of the world is to our
entreport country.

Have conveniently forgotten that
China's population is not your Population of 1, and if you can get
a bulk discount for purchasing 3 chairs - why did you not include
any bulk discounts demanded by China for the bulk purchase of the
tables that you produce ?

Your example is only an
analogy of a perfect market that only exist in your own
fantasy to reinforce a juvenile view of a tougher business
world.

Can you be the only person
manufacturing the table, when China has the ability to make chairs
- do you think they cannot make the table any better than you
?

Why will Indonesia or Australia
purchase from you when they can make direct purchase and other
deals direct with China - and with the types
of commodities needed by China that China will
surely desire without going through another layer in the
distribution chain of middle-men like you ?

B. Service and support for trade

--------------------------------------

To make those table, i would need wood, glue, nails, tools,
varnish, banks to give me capital, factory space, exports agents,
etc. These are the organisations that facilitate my trade. They
gain as well, for i have to pay for such services, which i will
include into my costings for the S$43 table i sold to China.

Now multiply the level of support for my trade in billions and
you will see how much it had benefitted the supporting industries.
IF there is no China trade, factory of the world, can you
imagine how many people would be out of job?

Do you think that the World
revolves around the Middle Kingdom only ?

Have you conveniently forgotten
the evolution of mankind before the complexities of trade was
even known ?

Now that you have displayed your
vanity in a hollow fantasy of a perfect world, do you know the

Have you considered the high costs
of land and labor in Singapore - as well the other factors of
competition from cheaper alternative sources available to China
that will give them room to negotiate and drive your prices even
lower ?

Is it not simply BS that the bank
will provide the capital to any start-up ?

And this businessmodel is what the govt is attempting to
replicate in modern Russia. What had CSJ and the political
opposition done except to waste time, cast slander
and maligned the honour of our super salesmen who are scouting
the world for opportunites for us citizens so that we
can put food on the table for our kids

Was CSJ given the political space
even to make his moves without LKY claiming that damages for his
own self-inflicted injury to his pride and ego ?

Can LKY have the idiocy of a
DeerHunter to develop such a business model that is based on
pure fantasy ?

Was this the cause for the failure
of the Suzhou Industrial Park - and over-assumption of the
perfect business model that fell apart simply due to over-reaching
oneself ?

No matter how high or low the volume of trade becomes even in
recession times, there will always be trade, for there will always
be something people will need and people will produce. No country
is self-sufficient, except the poor. But then they are never a
target market to earn money from.

How conceited a
DeerHunter can you be to believe that the poor are never a
target market to earn money from ?

Where were you on August 2007,
when it was reported that a Mexican by the name of ‘Carlos Slim – son of a Mexican storekeeper - is the
World Richest Person’ - and his
captive markets were the poorer Mexicans than the northern gringos
in the USA ?

The only thing that people need
- in good or bad times - is food, as it is the single and most
important resource for one's survival.

Can global trade continue
when the world is in recession - as in a Global Meltdown similar to
the World Depression in the early 1900s ?

Do you know how your grand-parents
and parents survived during the Great Depression before WW-1;
and the conditions that caused the Global Trade to
suffer during WW-2 ?

27 billion both ways

------------------------

When one chat with another person on prize of cars, one would
usually give general views, eg: around $30k for Chinese makes, $50k
for korean makes, $70k for japanese makes and above $100k for
european models even when there are variations in between.

It is only when one goes into specifics, such as type, engine
capacity, fuel consumption, etcs, does one give a better
accounting.

My mention of $27 billion (international trade currency is in US
dollars) both ways meant around S$40 billion ( dec 07
rate) each for China and for Singapore. It was only a
general figure to give the size of trade, for example if it was
Korea, it would be (US)$10 billion.

But Atobe stupidly use this general figure to prove her further
ignorance.

Idiocy from Atobe

-----------------------

Can Singapore's bilateral trade with China be considered
healthy when China exports more to Singapore than it does importing
Singapore manufactured goods ?

With China's main market also tied to the US market - as also
with every major countries on earth, let alone Singapore - do you
think that China can be immune to any recession in the
USA ?

Can Singapore depend on China's economy when it imports less
than what it sells to Singapore ?

Was
it not your own grand idea in attempting to project China as an
engine for Singapore's continued economic growth
?

And
much more astounding stupidity only an ignorant idiot Atobe can
contribute for your reading pleasure with the past
pages.

Surely you do not expect your
audience to have minds that think like a Deer, and
waiting blindly to get shock by an impotent flashy DeerHunter
?

Are you still disputing my
stated position with your lame understanding of the Global Trade
?

Have you conveniently mixed up
your Bilateral Trade with the Entrepot
Trade in your fantasy analogy of an ideal Global Trade
environment ?

Incidentally, do you expect anyone
to know what your ''prize'' is for the various car makes that you
have brilliantly given that is causing further opportunities to
castrate you with ?

Do you seriously expect
anyone to understand the workings of a retarded
DeerHunter's mind when reading your ''Prize'' as
stated by you - when you did not even make clear which
currency or source of your article that you have depended for
your argument ?

Thank God for only one foolish

This article analyses the issue of differences in the
measurement of international trade flows at a bilateral level in
the context of Singapore. Using the Trade Difference (TD) Statistic
a la Blades and Ivanov (1985), discrepancies in reported
international trade data for Singapore's trade with some important
trading partners have been analysed.

The analysis suggests that the bilateral trade data of highly
trade-oriented economies like Singapore needs to be interpreted
carefully, and there is a need to separate out Singapore's
entrepot trade function <span style=

data, ...

- AFP/ir

deerhunter,

we can all see that, obviously he has very shallow views on
subject matters like this, to him trade has to be a
win-lose situation, failing to see the wider, wholesome
picture.......we can gain insight into the man by
reading his postings and the comical way he argues
without any reliable references. ....afterall these have been
the pathectic state of critics here, a lot of self views,
distortion of facts but with little references of
credibility (wish they can let us refer to some credible sources in
their postings to back up)......just take all these as the
enchanting bedtime stories by some illusionists lah

China Singapore Bilateral Trade made simple:-

This post is for the benefit of readers to discern facts from
half truths and lies. Simple analogies would be used for simpler
understanding, for village idiots like Atobe still exists in
Singapore.

And this businessmodel is what the govt is attempting to
replicate in modern Russia. What had CSJ and the political
opposition done except to waste time, cast slander
and maligned the honour of our super salesmen who are scouting
the world for opportunites for us citizens so that we
can put food on the table for our kids?

No matter how high or low the volume of trade becomes even in

be something people will need and people will produce. No country
is self-sufficient, except the poor. But then they are never a

But Atobe stupidly use this general figure to prove her further
ignorance.

Idiocy from Atobe

-----------------------

Originally posted by Atobe:

Has the DeerHunter woke up to a bad Sunday, and dreamed that he
had debunked my arguments ?

You can try harder at convincing yourself but you still cannot
get over those very expensive straws -
which you depended on so overwhelmingly to
build up your lame arguments that got you embarrassed time and
again.

The straws that you claimed that I have grabbed were worth a
dubious sum of US$27 Billion according to your rough estimate
about the China-Singapore Trade - BOTH WAYS, how did you debunked
what economic theories that you claimed exist in my replies to you
?

Only a DeerHunter can be deluded and not able to see
an object that he had so expertly over inflated, and you claim
that you can appreciate my ego ?

Should it not be the truth that you envy
the confidence with simple logic in my position
taken that had your arguments demolished time and time again - and
you can only depend as your last rebuttal that it is all about my
ego ?

If that is the case, what is driving your efforts to return when
you have nothing else to offer, and only to receive more bruising
hits for your infantile stupidity in nursing a bruised and
deflated ego ?

The $27 garbage bin was a product of your bankrupt imagination,
and you are most welcome to keep an overprice product to be used to
hide your sore feelings; and if you feel that you do not want to be
''embarrass to be arguing with a fool'' - what could be driving you
back again, and again ?

Is it more then a bruised ego, or simply a DeerHunter that is
impotent at performing anything of substance - let alone being a
true hunter ?

Again you talk rubbish. Instead of backing up your claims with
facts to support your lack of knowledge in economics, you use
insults to futher your ownstupidity.

Thus is there a need to discuss with you further, more so with
one like you whose only facts are slander, scorn, mocks, slur and
taunts instead of intelligence? Your only claim to rabid
notoriety are ridiculous attempts to humilate and revile others
whom are rational and thinks differently from you.

Continue with your thrash. It suits me well that you do so, so
that readers of this forum may know your kind well and what
grid-locking and time wasting opposition politics will be like,
with rabid imbecile hypocrites of the likes such
as you.

Either that, or crawl quietly back to your rubbish bin where you
belong, and no one will say you are dumb.

So you wish to re-open your various economic theories that was
thoroughly debunked by me?

No, as i had mentioned, I have no wish to argue with a fool that
you truly are. Let others follow the thread and read what had been
posted. What they believe is no concern of mine, except the truth
must be told.

The problem with you is that you love to grab at straws to prove
your over-inflated deluded ego. I will allow that, for others will
be able to discern.

As far as i am concerned, you belong to the rubbish bin. Stay
there and learn economics from your bin before you even attempt to
figure out your own expenses.

Surely I did not disturb your hunt and scared the Gazelle
from your sight - as the sound in my tune remained the same
?

You do not have to leave the hunting ground, simply to
allow me to claim victory in your absence - as you claimed in your
observations of my style.

Or have you exhausted your intellectual capacity in explaining
your brilliant $27 Billion in the value of the China-Singapore
Trade - "both ways" ?

Good thing that you are faking your own advise, and
do retire to Sesame Street where the garbage bin tenant will
surely welcome your company.

Victory? What's your prize for many of the economic rubbish you
attempt to throw before everyone face here? Oh..yes, the rubbish
bin. Crawl back and revel in your $27.00 (
S$40.00, '07 rate) rubbish bin. Enjoy your self proclaimed
'victory'. Your only victory is in furthering your
own stupidity.
