    • where are they going? why arent they coming back?
"In yesterday's Straits Times, 1,000 Singaporeans gave up their citizenship every year. This is becoz they find it hard to live and work here. I believe this numbers will grow and more Singaporeans will leave the country sooner or later.

If Im not wrong, many Singaporeans who gave up their citizenship do well in other foreign countries in business and in employment.

Likewise our overseas foreign workers does not even think of ever coming back to Singapore becoz of their work environment, lifestyle and attractive pay package."

    • in a world where people are more mobile, there are stacks coming and going...

      some do well..

some go on and murder their wives and children..

      so, what is your point?

    • Not even sure if that number is accurate... The papers a few days ago also say 150,000 Singaporeans stayed abroad.

If only 1000 a year, means 100+ years of migration???

    • Resident pop refer to citizens stay in SG and Spore PR.

Non--residents refer to FT work, study here plus their family.

People come and go happen in many First World countries.

      What is a big deal?

      Non--residents increase from 680,000 in 1997

to 1,010,000 in 2007.For them.here is still very attractive.

in the past 3 years,80,000 FT net increase pa !!

Dunt paint SG worse than it really is.

How many British leave UK pa?

If PAP tell u no Sporean leave, then u should worry.

    • we have try to pull them back,of course.

Do they seeking political asylum, like Gopalan Nair

      or other reasons?

Look at it from another side of the coin.

They leave not because SG is bad,but other countries

is butter or more suitable for them.

More people come or leave is better?

PAP can tell u this or that. But it is the actions

of local people and FT tell the true picture.

      https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html

tell u the net migration(positive is net increase in population)

      SG 6.88/1,000

      Aussie 3.72

      Canada 5.62

      France 1.48

      USA 2.92

      UK 2.17

...just goes to show that this country is better for foreigners than locals... and the despots should consider themselves government of the foreigners...

...and locals should just kick the despots' asses....

add stress... how true... that's what they do, the despots, put Singaporeans under stress by increasing costs while they increase their own salaries....

It's also the same as saying that Singapore is a worse place than those other countries.

So much so that they decided to give up their citizenship.

Finally out from the pawns of tyranny !

I'd do the same too if I were Singaporean. Can't stand earning my money for a lying bastard. It's not the language at fault it's the person who deserves the calling.

    • Net emigration only show statistics of inflow but how many actually show both inflow and outflow from the same population?

I think the outflow from the inflow is more crucial for analsis for a substantial picture...

Imagine a certain company advertises that it has huge numbers of workers coming in to work. But out of this number how many % actually resigned and left?
