IF you've been having trouble sleeping lately, consider the thoughts that must have been keeping journalist Peter Lloyd awake these past few nights.

This Chris Smith is not a small fly---

Programme Director, award winner radio presenter,author etc.

So I am very disappointed and angry that a man of this kind of

calibre in Oz proposes drug suspect escape from Singapore.

he is not suggesting anything offiensive i believe...but something hidden in the lines betweenChangi  and Bankok jails ect...Cant be sure, maybe heis  meaning to say something degrading about singapore,

 

But i agree Loyd with his expereince as a journalist should know better not to mess around with drug laws in s'pore.. He is not an ordinary ignorant aussie, he is  well travelled and knowledgeable, probably complacency did him in.

let's hope this chris's kids do drugs and we watch from the sidelines

Amount of controlled drugs that would qualify as drug trafficking

Section 17 of the Misuse of Drugs Act lists the amount of controlled drugs beyond which, the person who carries them shall be presumed to possess them for the purpose of drug trafficking unless proven otherwise:

• Opium: 100 grammes
• Morphine: 3 grammes
• Diamorphine (Heroin): 2 grammes
• Cannabis: 15 grammes
• Cannabis mixture: 30 grammes
• Cannabis resin: 10 grammes
• Cocaine: 3 grammes
• Methamphetamine: 25 grammes
• 10 grammes of any or any combination of the following:
  • N, α-dimethyl-3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenethylamine (MDMA)
  • α-methyl-3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenethylamine (MDA)
  • N-ethyl-α-methyl-3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenethylamine (MDEA)

It should be noted that, unless authorized by the government, the possession, consumption, manufacturing, import, export, or trafficking of these and other controlled drugs in any amount are illegal.

it goes to show many folks out there still think with their "little head" and not the one on top...depsite SG being worldwide infamous on her stance on drugs....and worse...the offenders are high profiled & learned some more....not some illiterate ah bengs or ah kows

which report is more disturbing.. a drug charged journalist or, a PR in SG demanding the rights equivalent to a SG citizens but not the NS obligation and behave more audacious and arrogant toward the citizens?

ABC foreign correspondent Peter Lloyd has vowed to stay in Singapore to face drug charges that could put him in jail for 20 years.

While there have been calls for him to run, Lloyd, 41, told The Sun-Herald yesterday: "I've never ever considered attempting to flee. I will remain in Singapore."....

Some commentators have suggested Lloyd should jump bail and run. The legal source said if he did he would never be able to return to Australia due to an extradition agreement between the countries.

"If I were to jump, I would not go to a country with a treaty. I should go to Indonesia or Thailand. I have seen some people do it," he said.
