    • The man who spent too much time posting on Speakers Corner and didn't had time to make friends .......... one day he woke up at aged 65 to find that the people he was communicating with were not his friends at all.......just faceless nics like Fireicey, noisylioness, badmary, theBearer, Andrewyip, Poh ah Pek..........some had gone silent over the years, probably gone forever to the eternal blue screen in the sky......

He should have dumped his computer and got out to join real people at the Community Clubs, tour groups, religious groups or youth groups....

Now he can join the old folks at the void deck, but he does not speak on the same wavelength.....so he stays at home, watching his TV and hoping some kind neighbour would foot the repair bill to his trusty ancient laptop which he still hides under his bed....

Sometimes he would try to switch on the laptop, but his ancient Vista OS wouldn't even load......he stares at the screen blankly, and sheds a little tear........

    • There isn't one of us that doesn't want to be someplace else. But this is what we do, who we are. Live for nothing, or die for something.

    • Dr Who is using a classic psychological trick to deter people. it works very well because it dwells on the future and the unknown.

I am thinking of diverting/expanding my entertaining business here to funeral and casket services, i think it is a good business given so many old people around and also on the rise. What do you think, want to join me or not, we can make money then by next year offer IPO, get public to put their money in, we sit back and relax. Good idea hor.

    • some people i met in real life, who speak up for themselves, have a higher intellect than normal people. They analyze and debate issues, in short, they think, they use their brains. so it's more likely they are successful people, successful biz owners rather than a poor old man in front of tv. the picture that TS painted is not very accurate, usually people that dare to speak up for themselves and others may have a wider social network of friends than normal people do.

Either way, they still come around and talk to people here

maybe, there isnt any nessecity to go out, since the super highway is being renamed as ultra runway

    • In 40 years we'll be undersea.

The walls tranform into gigantic fish tank. But are we really watching the fishes or the fishes watching us in a human tank.
