Dozens of DBS investors protested emotionally and at times violently yesterday. At the Legislative Council yesterday morning, they called for the government to investigate whether the bank used misleading tactics to market the products.
Later, at DBS’ Central offices, several protesters clashed with police who barred them from entering the building. They were eventually able to meet bank representatives. They also marched to the Singapore consulate.

Singporeans kiasu, kiasi and trust the despots and what happens? They turn into public money grabling, foreigners asses licking, dissidents and opposition persecuting despots.
He calls himself the "Father of a Nation" but he turns out to be nothing but a greedy public money, power abusing asspot with a wife that cannot peacefully die and a son with cancer. Sad.

Singaporeans should know more of these human freedom. If Singaporeans read/watch enough of Obama and McCain, they'll know what is liberation.
Look at how Obama is pushing for tax cuts, how Obama is making sure American jobs go to American people, how he protects the interests of his people...
Now look at how our ministers raise electricity tariffs, raise transport fares, raise GST, raise their salaries... even when we're in a sh*thole of economic crisis.

No forceful personalities or leadership in our PAP government also.
Not a single person that can inspire people.
The lack of energy, the laziness, the worthlessness of it all.
At least Tan Kin Lian stood up and the people responded.
Nothing whatsoever from PAP government.
Totally worthless.
No leadership whatsoever.

Indeed.
When there is a turmoil, our government just stands in a corner and gives the 'it has happened, what to do?' statement.
Compare us with the likes of America, where the governments continually fret over the people's problems. Look closer, at Hong Kong, where protests actually lead to action.
Look at us. One Mr Tan standing up against barrages of questions. One Mr Tan answering aging aunties and uncles whose life savings amounted to nothing. One Mr Tan reassuring the people.
All while dear SM Goh stood by and told us that it isn't the business of the government.

stakes are different for each side, TKL is only standing out to be a hero with nothing to lose, dear SM Goh and the PAP govt would have to answer to anything they say in times like these and that goes against their track record.

i feel pity to those retirees and lower educated ppl, some are even handicapped who lost all their life savings.
Even if DBS willing to buy back at market value, what is market value when there not even a market for it. maybe at 10% of the initial invested amount.

True, last time when my work permit is expired, i couldn't get a job because they wanted to leave the jobs to american. Even in the end my ex-boss is able to bring me to his new company, his company is required to submit alot of documents to prove that why they need to hire me, what is so special about me and why can't they just hire an american to do the job.
