    • If current tensions between South Korea & Japan escalates, and leads to hostile actions between them, which side do you think will prevail?

And which side will US help in the unlikely event that war breaks out?

Will North Korea, China or Russia try to take advantage of the situation? Will Taiwan's position be vulnerable?

      Food for thought...

US will resort to anything within its might (economical, political power) to prevent a war between South Korea and Japan. In the event that such a war does eventually break out and US fails to prevent or stop it, that alone signals one thing: the declining of US power and influence in this part of the world. But I don't think we've reached that moment (full scale US decline) in time. It'll happen, but not so soon.

Besides, in times of war involving South Korea, US has ABSOLUTE command of South Korea's military. Absolute command, over each and everyone of the South Korean soldier and officers. It's a South Korean law.

So, I don't think a war will break out. At most some low scale skirmishes.

    • IMO, at present the political nature between these two Asian US allied Nation doesnt involves any military actions/conflicts althrough the bilateral political relationship seems fragile and perennially shadowed over the atrocities committed by the japanese imperial army between 1935-1945

Considering the fact, South Korean and Japan are labelled as "democratic" nations equal "civilised" nations and in that context these nations believes in engaging diplomatic solution rather than blood shred.

the people of both nations xperienced the horror and left poignant memories during times when the rivers water were blood red, homes were shredded, times when absolute poverty manifested the nations. The past undoubtfully has major role in surpressing any calls for any military conflicts.

More conspicuously, the regional tension. for past decades the political climate are often associated as being in a wall street.North korean, since the curving of 38th Parallel the northern korean political volatility has been quite a concern or rather its a globe issue.Effort in mitigating the country's communist regime hasnt been successful. Japan and korea share common bundle in monitoring such issue.
