CNB can accomodate any USN carrier currently in service.

i guess it will be easier this way for the people working on the carrier while it is berthed in CNB.

This is because it will be a long way ( the berth is long enough for a carrier to dock on its side and with room to spare at the both ends) to the toilets in the naval base facility and they may not have the authority to enter the carrier to use the toilets in there. Since these are portable toilets they can be kept when there are no visiting naval vessel to service.

This is just my own analysis based on logic and common sense so i may not be right. Comments? Very Happy

    • There was someone who got a warning from the embassy staff during the bus trip back home for taking photos of RSN’s ships. The person persisted despite a warning. I hope its not from our group. David is kind enough to organised the trips and coordinate the transportation for all of us. Don’t create any trouble for him. It could also jeopardized our future trips there.

eh yea... he sounded very hostile... bugger...

    • Those Hornets at PLA are not from Kitty Hawk. They're from VFA-97 Warhawks, a USN unit attached to Marine Air Group 12 in Japan, here for a Commando Sling.

Agree totally with pirate. If it was one of our guys, please remember that CJ and the US Embassy/USN folks are bending over backwards to arrange such visits for us, despite the restrictions due to security concerns. As such, they have rules to play by, and its our responsibility to do the same. They (along with the RSN) have already been kind enough to allow us to go on board, with our cameras to boot. Please do not do anything to jeopardize the visits and the leeway given to us during such visits.

I'm sure we do not want future situations when even camera phones have to be left at the guardhouse, or a total ban on visits altogether.

No further action was taken although that embassy guy glared at the guy in question till the bus almost reached the gate.

On a separate note, noticed the USS Russell is now escorting the Kitty Hawk. Last saw it escorting the Abraham Lincoln during their April visit.

This carrier also doesn't seem to carry the 75+ aircraft that they are supposed to carry. Seems rather few. Should it be suddenly dispatched for combat, I wonder if it will be understrengthed?

    • Seems like the Kitty Hawk has been re-equiped with the Super Hornets, but the Sqn that flies the SH seems like is VFA-102 'DiamondBacks' (itself was a former Tomcat Sqn VF-102).

Looks like the Kitty Hawks past resident Tomcat-equiped VF-154 ' Black Knights' is stiil under conversion (to the SH) at Stateside. Well, the last time (back in '98 @ Fremantle) I converse with a Tomcat pilot on his possible conversion to the F-14D and he told me that most probably they will convert to the SH.

Really missed the Tomcats. Well, will dwell on my pics of the Tomcats taken onboard the KittyHawk then.

Wow, you are also garang! I used to do what you mentioned above (Kitty Hawk 1993), but now no longer possible. I remember back then there was no ID checks when boarding the carrier and we climbed up at the stern from the ferry.

    • I am wondering if USN have to pay us for docking at CNB? I am quite certain that they will have to pay for supplies and services provided such as servicing though otherwise we will be short-changed. Very Happy

    • It is entirely possible the SG government provides supplies FOC because she wants USN ships to come regularly, show she is in bed with Big Brother (to put it crudely Twisted Evil ) and deter aggression.
