Award-Winning 2005 Russian-Finnish Flim "9 Ya Rota" or "Company 9" in english, was based on the story on the men of Company 9 in the last Soviet offensive in 1989 Afganistan. Directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk, "Company 9" was much very well received, including Russian President Vladmir Putin, who watched it together with Mr Bondarchuk duing the offical premiere in Moscow.

Here is also another excellent movie on Afghan war.
See how the the Russian also do a self-defense by attacking against Terrorist hidding among civilians as Human Shield .. and of course, the Russians do not target civilians... it is simply a mistake...

This is during the time of the Soviet-Afgan war. The Soviets are not fighting terrorists but the mujahideen, Afgan resistance fighters.
Other than the American accent on the Soviet troops i also noticed that they mounted 0.5 Brownings on their Soviet tanks. That of course is also inaccurate.
In terms of accuracy the 9th company is better, wonder if it will be shown in SG with English subtitiles. The Russian president is said to have watched this movie and commented positively about it.Edited by tankee1981 06 Aug `06, 12:35PM
