    • Singapore has suffered decades of threats and humiliations from our neighbouring countries.Recently there has been a three pronged "attack"on us by malaysia , thailand and indonesia.Force us to expedite the extradition treaty by banning export of sand, Thailand Junta insulted our integrity....

Cant we do anything about it @ least a long term solution.
As a true blue singaporean, it makes me feel so frustrated.

    • Question:

Why does our government, through their front company Temasek - keep buying or attempt to buy, foreign Telecom companies in the region?

SG also nearly succeeded in buying HK Telecom, in the end it didn't succeed due to some reasons I can't remember.

Are there really ulterior motives like others are accusing us of?

    • the thailand telecom thing was a real bad deal politically. however economically it sounded good.

the sand issue is a real pain. and worst thing is that we can do nothing about it.

temasek isnt the only one that is doing it... many global funds are doing the same..

it only becomes a problem when we try to buy regional stuffs.. because people cannot accept that their neighbour is able to do better then them.

remember... even jesus christ was rejected by nazareth, the very town he grows up in... our govt just wanna learn it the hard way... but then again.. they arent seeking believers.

    • i remember the time when sg tried to convince other ASEAN nations to attack Malaysia (off course in the internet laa, not the real war). but it's not in this forum. i wish i remember the website.. it's called bashing of msia @ msia gangbang. something like that. in that page, they discuss about how long can msia survive attacks from sg,indon, phils and thais.

wonder how long can sg survive if these three nations suddenly attack... Rolling Eyes

please.. don't be hypocrite (sg is the strongest, sg can beat them anytime, bla bla bla...)

    • I think SG should lie low and go about our daily interest. Lie so low, that when these countries are really in deep shit [natural calamity-floods, earthquakes, sunami, drought and wat else], sg should just act dumb, as if nothing major happens to them countries and dun lift a finger [money and assistance] to assist. Also, do not comment about wat is going on in these countries, good or bad. Dun even bother to help invite companies to set up shop in these countries.

In the meantime, we strenghten our defences against any possibility. Twisted Evil

    • I wouldn't say this is a three pronged assault. The banning of sand is a mere hindrance to us, as sand can be bought from other places. It'll cost us more but no choice lar. The Thais, it will just take a little while for it to sink in that we are their friends. Hurting their relations with us wouldn't benefit them either.

Singapore has no reason to survive and to become the leading economy in South East Asia. The only reason I can imagine why the other SEA countries are not better off than we are is that they have more problems with corruption than we do.

There is hardly a reason why flights need to divert for transit in Singapore instead of Thailand, (except for flights to Aussieland). Changi is actually quite out of the way. Fortunately for us, Changi was not built on a river delta and hence its more viable than the alternative.

This is but one example of why Singapore is in the lead. Because we are stable, we don't have coups, and corruption is low, compared to the rest of SEA.

so you mean it's ok for us to delay the extradition treaty just because it doesn't suit our interests?

    • i wonder how much is actually known by us...

malaysia.. oh well.. they've always been ranting so hey...

the other two, i'm not that sure that all that has been said publicly is what happened behind closed doors... and there are some things you do not do which was done by us in the usual ham-fisted way which our own gabrament always deals with things... (the general lack of EQ in them is astounding)

the extradition treaty, which indonesia says is going to be one of their tools for getting at the corrupt, is a slap in the face of the gabrament here.. it would mean that the corrupt of indonesia are having a wonderful time stashing their ill-gotten gains here and living it up here.. after many rounds, no progress... it's no wonder they are saying we are dragging our feet.. hey! they are after the corrupt who looted their country and are hiding here! probably with their ill-gotten gains!

so how now? it is clear who proposed and they won't be the ones dragging their feet would they?

thailand? after the fiasco of Shin-Corp, Temasek and our DPM receiving the deposed PM, how else do you want them to react??

sometimes, we as Singaporeans should stop to think, why are we not well-liked? take a step back, look at the whole thing from their perspective... they aren't so squeaky clean either but neither are we..

    • The best way is to let them keep making noise..... once they can't prove what they say, they will be the one who lose face for the world to see.

Look at the present Thai govt...... flip flop flip flop so many time till most MNC not sure what to do...... 1st they say want to take back Shin SAT by any means, then admit they will now have to pay good old CASH.

Look at Indonesia..... 1st say confirm sand ban is because S'pore refuse to sign agreement, then say no such thing....... flip flop flip flop....

Look at JB's some minister...... even his own UMNO party is saying he talk co*ck, no prove again.

So who is the one who lose face Question Question I let the rest of the world be the judge...... not some small minded A*S....

    • Thats why recently our Air Force buy many F-15E Strike Eagle fighter planes. So that we are not even afraid of 5 prong attack. The plane can handle multi targets simultanieously.

    • Guys, i hate to say this. The SW monsoon is coming soon. That means dry season gonna be upon this region. That means them Indos gonna sure as hell encourage a whole lotta burnin to choke us real good! Last year, one of them Indo minister remarked SG should'nt complain about them smoke if SG dun wanna sign them extridation treaty. WTF man Evil or Very Mad

Tat's why i said, we should lie real low and dun give a damn if these countries suffer enomous catastrophy. They dun give a shit to our well being, why should we so much as send peanuts to assist them in their hour of need?

BTW, have you guys ever wondered how, after the worldwide Sunami donations, which amounted to billiions of US$$, Indo gov suddenly can afford to plan and purchase offensive military weapons??

Where does the money come from? The Sunami dragged them treasures from the deep Indian Ocean and dump 'em on Sumatra shores?

We should keep our donations and help the unfortunate SG citizens instead.

    • want to be popular for all the right reasons?

      1. don't buy sand. buy palm oil.

      2. don't buy telcos. try FDI.

      3. don't pay 3 malaysian sen per 1,000 litre of raw water. pay 3 US sen instead.

      4. don't mobilize for relief operations as if you're making a beach assault.

      LOL.
