    • Apparently it seems he has far more "knowledge" on ADF stuff then on the SAF.

And faulty weapons and materials? He obviously has never been in the SAF before.

    • Every army has faults with their weaponry at times....the unfortunate thing for our army is that ours were faulty in battle! In my opinion, our prime minister should take the blame for any death or injury caused by this as it is his government, under his rulings that decided not to sufficiently fund the ADF with enough money to ensure our troops were armed with working weapons.
Just another mistake made by the Australain government! My hat goes off to the Singapore Government for ensuring that your army is properly equipped.
If only our government would take some lessons from yours, our country might run even half as smoothly as yours does! Atleast your country would be able to protect itself against war/intruders,unlike ours who has to call on America to help us because our prime minister has no idea how to run a country.
My 2 cents given...... Very Happy

Smile I work with the SAF here in Australia. Yeah you guys sometimes have faults with equipment, but no-where near as often and as bad as the ADF.

    • LOL! I'm glad that people actually think our equipment are in tip top shape! Wayang Successful.

Sorry for being a skeptic, but when I was in the Army, I didn't see enough tip top conditioned equipment. And I don't mean its just a few vehicles in the workshop... The rest is... OSA.

    • In any case... Stuff that we send overseas for exercise are usually some of the better conditioned ones. Ones that *usually* don't have a track record of problems. Heads will roll if major equipment malfunctions during an o'seas exercise where the top brass are watching.

I recall some of our best equipment were rolled out for Ops Flying Eagle. In some cases, our only serviceable ones.

In any case, kudos to the Australian Army Engineers who took part in the firefight. I don't see the guys from my engineers unit carry that much firepower and possessing as much infantry-knowledge.

I must say that a lot of the blame can be attributed on the operators and the chaps at OMer level. It is frustrating for us depots to always have to witness the lack of care that the units have for their equipment.

      Time and time again. Mad

OFE was a whirlwind for us too..

I know what you mean. Its a headache for us to file the MRs as well. I'd follow some of the exercise troops out once in a while, and I see the way they abuse my equipment, "breaks my heart."

But seeing what kinda rough treatment the equipment were subjected to, I was also able to feedback to my superiors on the equipment viability as well as come up with "usage" guidelines for the exercise troops. It pisses them off, but it saves time & money in terms of logistics.

However, its not always the exercise troops' fault. It can be higher ups that make stupid decisions without ground-level knowledge. Eg "Inflatable Dinghies loaded with heavy equipment beaching largely graveled areas is more cost saving that aluminium hull boats." Makes one wonder if the stars and the crabs actually have thought process.
