The whole point of this topic is...for the members to play 'generals' in a way.
One side would discuss any possible way for the enemy to attack singapore.
The other side will counter back with arguments on how to achieve victory or defend singapore.
Think like your enemy before making your move...
If people is interested...maybe someone can start a scenario and see how the 'debate war' goes.
A game of chess if you will.

Okay, I start the ball rolling.
Enemy Mission I - Naval Blockade of Singapore
====================
1. Mine the Straits of Malacca such that it will take years to fully minesweep the area
2. Close Sunda Strait to Singapore Traffic
3. Establish a Fleet in Being in at least 3 ports facing the South China Sea
4. Establish a Fleet in Being in at least 3 ports on the Java Sea
Care to counter that?Edited by abao 23 Dec `07, 10:25PM

i dont know but its abit shooting urself in the feet for this. Singapore as a port city needs the traffic from SOM. if we mine it where's the traffic coming from?
and also i'm not too sure if we have the sovereignty to enter SOM

Speaking of flame war
Teams of Terrorists start 'the mother of all singapore arson'
simultaneosuly at various points of the nature reserves on a windy
night and as soon as they ignite the fire, they just disappear into
thin air. This could either be a diversion for something else to
come or just some stupid organisation wanting to make a
statement.....imagine the irrepairable vast damage to the island
tropical rain forest

Care to counter that?Dont be naive. U cant ever fully mine SOM. By doing so u are cutting off trade to various countries aren't u making enemies with the world?
So which country are u representing?

And I am not stating names of countries, coz we must promote harmony ma. No country would like their name being used in some chit chat that might put them in a light. Lets just use the term "neighbouring country" as a general threat.

Yes
order the Plotemayos to send in their squadron of Gundams. So
strong that no country can beat them

Currently the Isthmus of Kra is not even made into a canal for transportation. Such things are not build at a snap of a finger my friend. Other trade routes sure but are u paying for the increase in transportation cost? Are u taking the responsibility of the reduce in profit?
This is all just an assumption so why do u fear repercussions for naming?
Lets just assume u are M. I will just send troops to johor and down to KL (by doing this i secure my food and water supply). Send a fleet to intercept yr ships in MOS while requesting reinformance from I. Form an alliance with China, Vietnam, Japan Australia n Korea to form a pincer attack with yr fleet in the south china see.
I will not refuse for they have vested interest in SOM.
C,V,J,A,K will not refuse for they have vested interest in South China Sea.
Oh dont forget u are roughly making enemy with all the members of the UN by mining the SOM for u are hurting trade which equal to profit and surviver for many countries.

to attack
1) cut off their foods and water supply by taking down any incoming plane or ship will do. people will start to stock up on foods.
2) create panic in the country by dropping a free bombs around. this can also jam the telephone network because most Singaporeans will start calling to whichever hot line available to complain.
actually if we start battle in singapore, the war is already over. TS can you change the topic to attacking and defending a country instead? no need to name the country just base on attacking and defending will do. singapore too small liao, nothing must to talk about.Edited by freedom4ever 24 Dec `07, 12:47AM

Depends on some factors.
1) Time Required
2) Resources Committed
If enemy forces, they definitely want a prolonged war.
Whereas Singapore would want a short war.
If you are pressed for time, you are more likely to commit errors.
If Singapore can't neutralize the enemy forces within 3 months, my money is with the enemy forces.
Singapore forces should be more offensive rather than just defensive, if enemy forces decide to play for time. We can mount an attack to conquer their country. Instead of just sitting around waiting for artillery to shell us, our food and other resources to run dry.
Also depends on who the offensive country is. We should capture the enemy's territory to boost our strategic defence. We would need to have good communications and support to launch an effective invasive force.
