The handicapped guy claimed his radio was kaputs which is why he
couldn't reply. As for these 2 Aussies, they probably thought
they are above the law or some big fark or something. I
agree, a hefty fine and jail term is in order. A small
country like our's cannot risk having jack arses flying around as
if their grandfathers own the country.

By sending our F16s up, it shows 2 things.
Firstly, we are not taking our security for granted. We do not
assume that a unverified plane, no matter fast or slow, to be
harmless. As we are a very small country, not like malaysia, so do
not have a huge buffer zone to sit back first and see what that
plane is up to. We need immediate action to do the verification
once the alert line is crossed. But at the meantime, we do give the
unverified plane a chance instead of just launching missiles at it.
Maybe the pilot/plane is in some sort of genuine distress? Firing
missiles on first instances is too inhumane and dangerous. Even in
war, blue on blue incidents are very bad PR which even the US could
not handle very well.

can u tell if a unauthorised plane is harmless just
looking
at the radar?

If u can u are Super Man!!

1.It may be a slow cruise missiles,UAV with explosives,
or a Fighter or bomber.

2.We should put a heavy penalty on two pilots.
If we do so, next times the pilots on those plane may
fly away to escape from heavy penalty
or may create more troubles.

If we let them get away so easy,it just invite more
unapproved flight.

So what to do?

Was Changi airport that's why many flights were delayed.

I dunno, I think I would rather risk having the plane go kaboom in
Seletar airport than right smack in the middle of Changi airport.
Stupid Aussies should be glad we're not trigger happy like some
countries or they'd be wanking off in heaven right now. <img title=

Well frankly, im surprised that they allow a plane to continue
flying without a flightplan or comms. They will have detected the
plane on civilian radar even if their military ones were scanning
at that moment.

Cessna bigger or MKM bigger for RCS? Well i
feel better at least.

It's obvious that they didnt comms the plane cause if they did, we
would have been able to contact the cessna and have no need to
scramble. The cessna's radio was not functioning. I'm very
impressed by what they said based on assumption.

By the way, now i know WHY we are so going for stealth. HEHEHEHE.
It's a small plane and completely "harmless". It's a small fishing
boat, and completely harmless too!!!!

Is it possible that the Malaysian
DCA not inform the Singapore DCA about the CESSNA flight plan, when
it was reported the plane had already contacted Malaysian DCA from
its originating airport at Koh Samui ?

The FPDA arrangement - under the command of a Senior Officer either
from Australia, NZ or UK - covers the air defense of Malaysia and
Singapore as one network, has there been a breakdown
?

rel="nofollow">Singapore informed by DCA of Cessna
flight

PETALING JAYA: The Department of Civil Aviation informed its
Singapore counterpart of the flight plan of a Cessna 208 plane,
which caused a major security alert at Changi Airport on
Tuesday.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the DCA allowed
the plane, which took off from Koh Samui in Thailand to enter
Malaysian airspace, as it posed no danger.

“It was just a small plane and we had confirmed that it brought no
threat to the country's defence.

“The DCA immediately informed its Singapore counterpart after
getting the information from the Thai DCA that the plane was having
some problems and needed repairs in Singapore,” he said after
attending the memorial service of Prof Dr Wolfgang Franke here
yesterday.

Dr Franke, who died in September last year, was a guest professor
at the Chinese Faculty, Universiti Malaya where Chan
graduated.

It was reported that Singapore scrambled two F-16 fighters to
intercept the plane, piloted by two Australians.

The incident caused a major flight disruption at Changi which was
forced to close for 50 minutes.

Hydrazine isn't exactly a very harmless thing you want to be
topping up so often...

Most likely, they'd just start up the jet, align it for a full
8-minutes, and park it and NOT move it. Shut down the jet, and let
it keep its INS alignment using the Stored Heading.

Still need abit of time to align after start up though. But its a
hell lot shorter.

Originally posted by Shotgun:

Yeap. I was trying to make the point that
there are fighters "ready" to intercept at any moment's notice. In
some cases, jets sit with their engines running and INS fully
aligned, just waiting for a pilot and clearance to taxi.

As for powering up the A/C, you'd still need to wait for the INS to
align, unless you want to try running that alignment off the EPU.
I'm not sure if thats possible.

Unless we are talking about full-scale war or presence of a very
credible threat, there will be NOT be a/c withh engines running
just waiting to take off... think if the fuel they will be wasting
and the wear of the engines....

Can't the INS stay in alignment with auxiliary power if that is
such a big deal...

Two Australians are being questioned by Singapore police after
apparently flying a light plane into the country without
permission.

A Singapore police spokeswoman said the pair, a pilot and engineer,
were assisting with investigations, but were not under
arrest.

The investigation is expected to take several days to
complete.

Singapore Ministry of Defence said F-16 fighter jets were used to
escort the plane to Singapore's Changi Airport on Tuesday
night.

"At 6.42pm (2142 AEDT), two Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)
F-16 fighters were scrambled to intercept a civilian aircraft, a
Cessna 208, which was heading towards Singapore airspace without an
approved flight plan," the ministry's director of public affairs,
Colonel Darius Lim, said in a statement.

"The aircraft was escorted to land at Singapore Changi
Airport.

"The Singapore Police Force is investigating the matter."

Singapore's Straits Times newspaper said commercial air space was
locked down for 50 minutes over one of the world's busiest
airports, after the incident sparked a major security alert.

The plane had been recently purchased by Mary Cummins, the owner of
a West Australian flight adventure company, and had been flown from
Thailand, the newspaper said.

Ms Cummins and former Ansett pilot Rhys Thomas own the Horizontal
Falls Travel Adventure business in Broome.

Staff at their Broome airport office said Mr Thomas was overseas
and Ms Cummins in Brisbane. She did not return calls on
Thursday.

The last time the RSAF scrambled its jets was in August 2003, when
two Super Skyhawk warplanes intercepted a civilian plane that tried
to land at Tengah Air Base.
did'nt the M sent up their Su30 or FA18 to take a peek at the
intruder, or were they unaware that a UFO intruded into their
airspace?? <img title="Confused" src=

Or is it M. Boleh? Anybody can suka suka intrude into their

good point sg couldn't assume that MY will be the first line of
air intruders if threats were external from the region.

Singapore FIR covers the entire South China Sea, and some parts
of P. Malaysia out of Changi Airport.

Now probably it didn't fly towards Australia or Indonesia as
intended, but somehow veered off-course towards Singapore by
following the lead of other airlines using the civilian airway G219
for arrival into Singapore. However, it probably didn't file the
notices or state where it was headed to unlike the other airlines
on the route.
