-spent unsucessful millions to keep old obsolete tank in service, called "upgrade" when it cannot even match anything out there. finally after 20 years decide to buy something proper. Oz 10 years for M113 is peanuts compared 2 this! Meanwhile several soldiers injured n killed using old tank!

-spent millions to make TWO unsucessful rifle design before making SAR21. never heard of them? becos you only wan 2 find good news!

Waste millions trying to upgrade post WW2 era tank that dunt cant fight properly! Using 75mm ammo in era all tanks using 120mm or even 125mm. Several killed in training accidents with “upgraded” tank. Finally buy second-hand tank that is much better.

Spent millions to design fantail but still not smallest UAV in world… think there is a UAV so smaller? I think so! Even Oz tech with less money spent on reserch selected by NASA for next-generation small UAV design, not ST.

Why ST so good? Cos U only select the goot news!

Dunt only sees the good news about ST son, see the forrest.

SRAM mortar is great if it works as advertised - can't tell if it can withstand rigors of real world sustained operations.

Max range of some other 120 mm mortars > 6 km - around 8 to 9 km I think. These may have longer barrels & different ammo.

true...kinda agree...ST has high quality. heard our bullets are really in a different league from those of other countries, for eg. the 5.56 which we use, the cartridge quality is much better, which helps to a certain extent to reduce IA too. the 120mm is good, really fast and easy to operate. have only seen the MTC version, where all you need to do is load the shell and everything is automated. Firing is impressive!:) but i'm not sure whether the 5-6 km range is comparable to other countries.

The mighty Uncle Sam,with billions budgets in intelligences,CIA etc and all the best hard ware technology in the earth,also suffer the 9-11 attacks.

1.No need to be too happy for ammo export.

This just show there are others also find value for $$$ in ST products which can equip almost all SAF need,except some major platforms,like Sub,CV,3 or 4 gen fighters etc.

ST Engineering's Land Systems Arm Secures US$31.6m Defence Export Contract

Singapore, 20 February 2008 - Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) today announced that its land systems arm, Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd (ST Kinetics), has been awarded a contract worth approximately US$31.6m (about S$44.8m) by a Middle Eastern customer.

This contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

The contract, part of a consortium effort to provide a mobile mortar system, involves the supply of ST Kinetics' patented 120mm Super Rapid Advanced Mortar System (SRAMS) with delivery to be completed in 2011.

The SRAMS is the world's first and only 120mm mortar system with a recoil load of less than 26 tonnes when firing at maximum charge thus allowing it to be mounted onto a wide range of light weight vehicles. The low recoil force also allows for rapid shoot and scoot missions without the need for an out-rigger. It is equipped with an automatic round loader and has a high firing rate of ten rounds per minute hence enabling missions to be accomplished with fewer mortar systems.
