I think a clone is some kind of replica of an original
thing.

So if lionoisy were an M16 in 1960 , he wud be an
M16A4 today . So I say that's an improvement - you think
?

If he were a clone, he would still be an M16 right ? So ,
he is not a clone right ?

Now ,if he were still a clone ............someone please
finish the story.......

I love the M4......a light and handy rifle that's quite accurate
and fairly easy to mantain.

guess main improvements would be on the accesories rather than
the platform

Pl give us a break here----dunt compare M16 with other old or
new rifles.

I just want to know what improvements,if any, have been made to
M16 in the past says,20 years.

Look at the computer, the TV and handphone u are using every
day.All have been improved for few generations in the past 20
years.I am generous here.If u think 20 not enough,just share.There
is no ban if u tell me improvement 40 years ago.

Pl take note what the co inventor of M 16 replied when he was
asked

''''And what kind of advance was there in our combat
rifle?''

JIM SULLIVAN (answered): They're
right exactly where they were when we gave them the M-16 in 1960.
They haven't advanced an inch.....''

Before u share with us,pl read some info to refresh your
memory:

some latest news:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/military/2008-04-20-gunwars_N.htm?csp=34

history help u recap:

http://www.sfahq.com/Armament/Rifles/M_16_Caliber_5_56mm/

X ray

This thread has been inspired by the grave comments of JIM
SULLIVAN, M-16 Co-Designer:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/military/july-dec07/rifles_09-24.html

PAUL SOLMAN, NewsHour Economics Correspondent: The M-16
semiautomatic rifle. With its shorter version, the M-4, it's the
gun of our troops in combat. The hat's for the sun, by the way; the
earmuffs for the noise. Jim Sullivan helped design this rifle
during the Eisenhower administration.

JIM SULLIVAN, M-16 Co-Designer: Fifty years ago.

PAUL SOLMAN: Fifty years ago?

JIM SULLIVAN: Well, we started on it 50 years ago this
month.

PAUL SOLMAN: That's 1957, the year the Soviet Union launched
Sputnik. In the half-century since, computers shrank from houses to
handhelds; polio was cured; man made it to the moon and Mars. And
what kind of advance was there in our combat rifle?

JIM SULLIVAN: They're right
exactly where they were when we gave them the M-16 in 1960. They
haven't advanced an inch.....
