    • I don’t need a throttle, so currently looking at logictech wireless joystick selling at $99, is it a good buy?

A good joystick is in the feel, not in the price. Don't be surprise that a $35 joystick can be good enough.

The main thing is you yourself ! can fly mean can fly, cannot fly buy $200 also cannot help.

    • i wouldn't recommend the cheaper sticks. they spoil really easily. i've gone through two cheap microsoft or logitech sticks already. what i would suggest is, if you wanna have the best stick, get the cougar from thrustmaster. that one's like 500 or 600 bucks, but its what the USAF uses to train its pilots. if you don't wanna pay that much, cos you think its crazy, then follow me and get a saitek x45. it comes with a stick and seperate throttle, can do all the functions of the cougar, and retails at simlim at about $140-160. the particular wireless stick you're talking about, i've tried it out before at a friend's place. i wouldn't recommend it because its way too flimsey and doesn't provide good tension on its axis;a typical gamer's stick. if you wanna fly on sim, don't bother with sticks without a seperate throttle. those are for games, not sims. you'll never learn to fly properly if you use those.

its true that the better stick got better feel, but you cannot compare something like a sidewinder to a cougar or x45. the quality difference and feel is totally different, and suffice to say, the x45 and cougar have a bloody solid feel to them. cheap sticks will not center well, and it'll leave a calibration nightmare, and it will be very hard to do straight level hand flying, simply because the cheaper sticks have no defined center. oh, and i would like to correct the above poster on something. men was never born to fly. if we were, we would have wings. everyone can learn to fly. its only how good we all end up. it would then be unfair to say that if cannot fly, a 200buck stick also no use, because everyone can learn, and a 200buck stick will definatly do a better job than cheap $35 stick.

    • You can try the cougar flight stick and throttle set. It is modeled after the F-16's one. Extremely pricely though. Lots of flight simers are using this one.
But if you only want the stick, I have seen something that looks like the cougar flight stick only being sold at sim lim. I'm not sure if it's from thrustmaster. Its around half the price of the set .
Something to add on. Flying the real thing and flying a flight sim game are two totally different stuff. You dun really learn much from flying sims that can be applied on the real thing.

That set is $300+, but like what I say, I don't need a throttle.

I am not going to fly sim, I am developing war-game, real battle-field kind.

    • Developing a game? Need help? If it's a DirectX platform I can help do the 3D modelling plus conversions and maybe mapping.

Thanks for your help. I am using map editor by a game software. It is not about developing games to play, but rather developing battle-plans for case-study of certain operators.

3D modelling from scratch would take up too much time... considering the amount of troops/machines to be generated.

Uhm.. right now it's using computer + joystick boring stuffs...once the hammer hits the nail...

Therefore, I need help in getting help in getting the right joystick. I mean, since I am going to buy one, I should ask around to see if the logitech one is good, ie trouble free.

    • i'm not exactly certain of your needs, since you earlier said simulators, i took it to be flight sims, but seems to be a different kind of sim now.

if its flight sim, check out the x45 stick at http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/joysticks.htm

saitek also have other quality sticks.
the other brand you could try is logitech. but i feel you should seriously consider only their higher range. and MAKE SURE you get a warrentee when you buy the stick...sticks are stuff that can break and spoil very easily.

It is still flight sim, to be use by professionals, so rest assure to those who try to reply it is who fly it, cheap or expensive. I just want to make sure that I buy one that is game-worthy and I believe that this forum has many flt sim gamers.

Thanks, I'll check out the site, but is it available in Singapore?
