    • Can someone tell me where to buy the monk's robe? I check it out at Rahu temple at katong last wed, so expensive, NO JOKE S$35/- per piece. And FYI, I don't get to see the cloth, they claim they will send it to thailand for us, just pay and write our name there.

Then i go to the temple behind geylang police station, the temple have the robe selling at S$12/-, pay, take the robe and offer to the buddha there.

See the diff... $23/- I mean if they get from thailand, sure not that ex right? I know biz man want to make money, but it's like "offering" why charge so high. Last time they charge S$60/- per piece. Too much !

Okay, just went to another forum, and someone mentioned: The price depends on the quality of the workmanship and the cloth, a monks robe ( jiwon ) can be bought for as little as 2 or 300 baht at the big supermarkets in Bangkok whereas a top quality one can be 10 times that much or more.

So i should ask them to show me the how good is the quality! Mad

Where can i buy at reasonable price in singapore?

    • Hi friend,

I will like to share my personal view.

Firstly, we have to be awared of the country. If in Singapore, normally you will get the set of robes direct from the temple. It comes with a predetermined
price and it varies from one temple to another. There is no such fixed price.
We cannot compare with the actual cost price of the robes which may be cheap and affortable.
In the temple, whatever money collected goes to the temple funds. Therefore there is some difference in the price tag.

      Regards,

Hi Thank you for the info, at least now i guess probably it's the reason why they charge so high. Becos nobody explain to me when i ask them the price. The moment i heard so EX, i got to think twice. I have 6 people at home, and that will cost me S$210/- as they advise it better to contribute one each. I just working class, it's 200 bucks so i really might not be able to afford that much. Embarassed anyway, now i guess i have a better pic. Really appreciate your view.

      Hi friend,

What you can do is write the name as Mr.XYZ and family. Spiritual contribution comes from the heart, there is no monetary value. Today you may not be able to do it financially but in time to come, you may be able to contribute more. It is a life-time commitment. This is just the beginning of the journey
and there is a long way to go.

      Cheers.
