Well today while at the pasar lane where they selling the old amulets I saw a young man holds an amulet tightly with his hands thinking he can feel the power from the amulet…nearly laugh out but manages to smile. Later saw him buy the hanuman and the mountain god he tested…

Share something…amulet’s power unless you are born with ability whatever chants use to test the power cannot work at all because the creator have sealed it so no power will escape

You can still go back to the temple to complain

But for ajahn/archan’s unless you know the address or else blame on your luck

In real fact in thailand the sellers have guns so don’t be so silly and go there to make noise about amulets don’t work

Agree with you, good stuff wear 1 piece is enough. But why do people need to wear so many?

Even if it's an imitation, like what I have, I think it is still okay. In fact, I hope those wearing fake ones will be more inspired to do your daily puja to 'recharge' your amulet. It will still work de.

What's the point of wearing a real amulet, but you lack in practice the buddhist-path and lack of doing puja?

If a real amulet can save evil-doer, then I have second thoughts about whether this real amulet is really from buddhist origin.

My guy does… he has nearly 100 pieces .. i only dun like his kun peng .. feel unsafe coz its supposing to increase woman luck n charm right ?

That time i had a tiger tooth craved tiger, like so strong for me. Now i jus put one side.

I also think its abit madness to collect n collect… Dunno how to prevent it….

When I go out , I wear Pita( look like cobra head over the pita,copper material ) , i tink it keeps me safe though. I have less den 5 pieces of amulets..

Amulets got so many type, but i dun like KMT , so evil looking…

The magazines I have is in chinese bought from some local newspaper stands

However I think it is to push up the ever declining amulet trade

Agree on Zacken on amulets.

I also want to add, all Buddhist traditions including Mahayana and Vajrayana places emphasis on insight wisdom. Apart from developing insight and liberation however, Mahayana (Vajrayana included) also emphasizes practicing the Bodhisattva way, generating great compassion and instead of simply personal cessation or nirvana (such as an Arhat), returns back to samsara to save other sentient beings. An example is Guan Yin/Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.

Regarding chanting, chanting is practiced in all traditions whether Theravada, Mahayana or Vajrayana. Chanting sutras can be treated as a form of remembrance of the teachings. Chanting Buddha Names etc is also a form of meditative practice. Both are meritious acts.

But regarding chanting sutra, as my Master said, chanting sutra is not as good as understanding sutra, understanding sutra is not as good as practicing it, and attaining the essence of it.

no....theravada dont emphasis on amulet either..

it all start only in present era.. where greedy human turn the

" compassion token (amulet , a membrance of buddha teaching)" of monks into a so call protective tools..then slowly silly transformation took place and become a collectors items and then become a market mechandize...

theravada place more emphasis on meditation and insight wisdom..

bro . what u taught us is really good and true. from what i gathered that chinese and Tibetian Bhuddhism dont emphasize on amulet,but more on chanting . but for Thai Bhuddhism is based on both . am i correct ?
