    • School rules changed.

For every lesson you are late for, your daily grade goes down by 0.5.

Holy crap. I wonder how some will be able to get the minimum GPA of 2.0 if it keeps downgrading. LOL

      Notice

Starting from this semester, late arrival in class will be penalized by deduction of 0.5 grade point from the Daily Grade. No grace period allowed.

    • On another note, RP should bring back this policy - Have UT before lessons.

Force all students to be on time. Because if late... UT time is cut short. Late more than 15 mins no need take UT. Haha... no UT plus a jia lat daily grade means can barely graduate from RP.

    • -0.5 GPA = Auto down one grade?

If late can really turn 180degree go home and sleep le. Haha.

Though just graduated, still miss the school.

    • No idea... maybe Daily Grade system has changed...

Habitual latecomers cannot afford to go home... you don't meet the required attendance, you need to stay back and re-do...

I felt it would be good for the school in the long run. They want students to take their learning more seriously... As you know lah, RP is notorious for being perceived as a less than ideal polytechnic by the public. Hope that the necessary changes can improve the quality of education. It will be good for everyone.

At first, I also thought the same way. But come to think about it, it may not be. All of them can be punctual, but it doesn't mean they will be learning. People's main issues with RP is not just about us being slack and habitually late or whatsoever. Our learning system doesn't really strike a chord with many...

LOL... anyway since you are in TP, you may get to experience PBL. Haha... read that some modules there are taught using PBL.

Haha, ya. I agree. Being punctual may not be necessary tied to better learning for many students. But i think the OAA is trying to send out a message like they want the students to be more serious in their learning in RP.

And i think ultimately, it is the PBL system that is the root of this "slackness" because you can learn as much as you can or you can learn just as little to get pass the day.

When RP first started... we ain't that strict. In fact, I think we are the slackest poly around. Gaming, skipping school, clubbing, etc. icon_lol.gif

But as things got worse... rules are tightened... we managed to get around them anyway.

Yeah... a lot of facs say the thing about PBL isn't the facs, it's the students. RP can function well without facs if the students themselves are willing to learn.

Ya! If the students are willing to learn, PBL is really damn effective. And i think the curriculum wise, quizzes used to be counted in the daily grading, and it should because nowadays quizzes people don't really take it seriously. haha.

I remembered getting a B for Communications Problem 3 or 4 that listening one. Angmoh speaking, i dun understand and got a lousy score, my faci downgrade me for that. wahaha.

Thanks to the seniors (including me, I admited here 1st..) that we tend to target to reach school between 8:30am to 8:45am, and that a lot of them (including me as well) that we reached our class on the dot which is 8:45am... I think should be due to this reason that we have somehow "abused" the grace period, hence the toopid RP system take away ths privilege of having grace period..
