He has admitted to take the nude photos, but denies molest.
NON-Constituency Member of Parliament Steve Chia admitted taking 'sexy photos' of his Indonesian maid, but denied molesting her, at a press conference held on Sunday morning.
Mr Chia revealed that he had originally taken some 'decent' photos of the maid as she wanted to send them home to her family. However, he then convinced her to take the 'sexy' pictures in her bra and jeans.
He deleted the sexy photos of the maid from the computer at once, as agreed with the maid, but forgot to empty the computer's trash bin where his wife later found them.
He maintained that she was never naked, and neither was he in any nude photos with her, although he had separately taken shots of himself in the nude.
As for his political career, he said: 'It's for the public to decide after hearing my side of the story, to see whether I am still able to lead them.'
Mr Chia, who is the secretary-general of opposition political party, the National Solidarity Party, will meet party officials on Monday to discuss the matter.

yes he may retain his seat. but he has effectively lost his political career, cos ppl r going to c him differently now. this is not the US, where ppl can get by wif a bj and still be a popular president.

come back in future...nah, i dun think so. The PAP will mock him fiercely in the elections on his integrity.
He has courted his own political death.

Taking
sexy photos of the maid was bad enough...then he admmitted to an
affair...and the last i heard of it was that he admitted to surfing
for pornographic materials on the net.( By the way, Singapore is a
still a conservative society even with all the bar top dancing..).I
dun mean to say that all politican must be morally upright..but if
you have a charachter flaw..never reveal it to the public of so
much so in Singapore. Sigh..Guess that he will be branded in future
with the likes of Chee Soon Juan instead of people like Chiam See
Tong. I mean when was the last time u saw a member of parliament
baring half of his ass on the Straits Times...I dunno how the PAP
is gonna take this..There goes his reputation and his seat in the
parliament...He can effectively call his political carrer to an
end...coz in Singapore..there is no place for comeback kids like
Bill Clinton..Sorry to say that

>>> HEY HEY HEY: I don't think it is so much their flaws but rather having the media to expound on these flaws. So far the last time I check the SPH and the other Media in Singapore, we have the PAP-related people in them as Chairmans and board of directors.
[size=large]So before you myopic Singaporeans jump into conclusion- study the environment and what you read carefully before passing judgement. Nevermind I would not blame you because Singaporeans are programmed by the PAP for the last 43 years. What to do? Worst of all - you guys refused to come out of the dark! Nationalism? PAPism? PAP has already abandoned the people's interest. Since when they have cared for Singaporeans?

I am sad that you defered so much to PAP as if they GOD. Look at Hitler and Japanese Shintoism of blind obedience and the total rejection of others. All of them ended in disaster.
Precisely because Singapore is so close that we need people like Steve Chia to open our minds. Why are we so closed up? We need to allow people like Bill Clinton/ Steve Chia to come back. Has'nt Bill Clinton been a better President? The economy was great and there was peace. He helped to enhance peace.
Was he malicious or vengeful. He was not and he is an advocate of peace.
Let's us all Sinagporeans be open to diversity and not restrict ourselves with what PAP tells us. Don't believe the bullshit they tell us. Whatever they do and whatever they say they did or are doing are all for their own consolidation of power. Use your own judgement and own brains.

<<< Halo..In the first place if he had not been up to all his silly past time, this scandal will never have broke up and nobody would have effectively exploited him.
Let's be honest with yourself,Chia contributed to his own exploitation. If he had not called the press conference which publicised the nude pictures of himself, the media wouldn't even have a chance to exploit him.
Chiam See Tong and Low Thia Kiang has been MPs for over a decade now,and their reputations are still intact after all these years.Look at Steve Chia, barely 3 years as a NCMP and he is scandal ridden. This is really base on one's self-discipline and moral..not about the PAP counducting any smear campaign against him.
Please remember to that this was the man who PM Goh said was more like a PAP candidate than a Opposition candidate(This statement was even metioned after the news broke out). Why would the PAP wanna ruin Chia just to suggest that PM Goh doesn't have every good foresight....U tink bout it

All power in history dies out whether they are viewed good or bad by the people, and all nearly ended in disaster. The Ottoman Empire,Hapsburg Empire,British Empire all died out less than 500 years after their beginning. It's just viewed as a natural process.I'm confident that the PAP wouldn't be running Singapore in 200years time.
The people of Singapore are not closed up.We are an educated population which some have been exposed to real democracy abroad. In any countries, there is a need to spent time establishing real democracy in any countries .It's the same with countries like S.Korea, which was under dictatorship till the 80s and Taiwan, which was a one party state which praticese democracy only in name until 2 decades ago. I'm sorry still to say that the United States could accept Bill Clinton cause they are the No 1 democractic country which spread liberialism across the globe. The United States is a country that had established democracy for nearly 250years(and even the US needed a civil war to firmly establish democracy in their country). Where as for Singapore, we are still in a transcational period of time where so called democracy has been praticsed for less than half a century. Thus. i would advocate that real democracy be given time to establish and not through your silly ranting of the so called "PAP DICTATORSHIP".
and in Singapore...we view the moral standard of a politican as important as his capablility..thus...refer to above and do not impose the US standard on Singapore
