I did this when i was young and is really effective.Originally posted by mystee:if u just want to get rid of ur tummy, do sit up every nite... at least 50 times straight..

= run ~! .. and lots of it ...
you can do all the sit-ups you want ... but in the end you'll just end up with an iron hard abs still hidden away by layers of fats ....
Cycling instead of jogging can?Originally posted by fudgester:x2. Spot reduction is a myth.
The only effect of sit-ups is to strengthen your abs... which may indeed prevent your tummy from sticking out so much. But it does not address the underlying cause of a bulging tummy: too much abdominal fats. As soon as your abs lose strength from inactivity, you will get a tummy again.
By all means do sit-ups, but only as a complementary measure. The best way to deal with abdominal fats is still through cardiovascular exercises like swimming and jogging.
I myself go for a 5km jog three times a week.![]()
Cycling is a cardiovascular activity, but I don't think it's as effective as jogging.Originally posted by Bontakun:Cycling instead of jogging can?

Ooooooh. Ok that beats a hell lot out of jogging. I oso haven got new jogging shoes yet, so stick to bipedals.Originally posted by fudgester:Cycling is a cardiovascular activity, but I don't think it's as effective as jogging.
The problem is that it is TOO efficient. If I remember correctly, a man on a bicycle is one of the most efficient heat engines there is, with an efficiency of up to 75%.
What this means is that 5km of cycling will burn less energy than 5km of jogging. I'm sure you'll agree with me on this - you would feel less tired after a 5km cycling trip than a 5km jog.
So if you want to cycle, you would definitely have to cycle longer distances.
Huh? Why should cycling make your butt big?Originally posted by Bontakun:Ooooooh. Ok that beats a hell lot out of jogging. I oso haven got new jogging shoes yet, so stick to bipedals.
I know this is a silly question, 1 which many of mee frens said NO to it, but I still itchy to ask:
Will cycling make your butt big?![]()

Wow such insights. More clearer than the explainations I got from others.Originally posted by fudgester:Huh? Why should cycling make your butt big?
If it makes your butt big, it's only because you haven't lost enough fat from doing the activity.
If I'm not wrong, fat in the femoral and gluteal regions are the most difficult to get rid of... you lose fats in the other regions first. That's why your butt may seem disproportionately bigger than the rest of the body if you start losing fat - it loses fat at a slower rate.
Yeah , Sit-ups really helps.Originally posted by crofty:*looks at his tummy*
