i got very very bad experience each time i walk at pedestrian paveway. i am so so angry esp to all those irresponsible, irritable, nuisance cyclist that got no patience and they r so very hateful. it is so dangerous esp when i am with the kids, sometimes this kids like to run or just run and this cyclist always speed their bike along the pavement of pedestrian way, it is so hateful, once my child nearly got hit by them, and they did not even say sorry, everyday as i am walking i got no peace at all, walking on pedestrian walking all these nuisance cyclist ring their stupid bell and want me to move away and give them way, when i ignore they bell their bell like they r so angry, hey this is pedestrian walking not bicycle if u want to wait until we walk, there is no safety at all esp they cycle at full speed, and just now this stupid old man keep on ringing my poor child bell, he forced him to move away to let his hateful bike get thru, so unfair that poor kid is so small n this giant force his bike thru, and when i told him off, he can curse me that 4 letter word. isn't that crazy., why can't the govt do something on these cyclist maybe ban them from using pedestrian way, there are bicycle way but they refuse to use it, they want easy fastest way out that is to disturb pedestrian. why human like that. -

erm, sorry to say tat but i dun think they are allow on the road or rather, its more dangerous for them on the road.
of coz for those who cycle at full speed deserved to be scolded.
its true tat sometimes they are very irritating but come to think of tat, y not just shift alittle to ur side n let them pass, its going to take less than afew seconds.

This issue on cyclist using the pavements is a debateable grey area which I shan't go into, but I agree the cyclist should also respect the pedestrians rights to use the walkway, esp. when he sees young children.
Those cyclists that I met who ride on the walkway are polite enough not to ring their bell at pedestrians, but to quietly slow down behind the pedestrians until there's a gap for them to pass through. In return, the pedestrians also try to move aside for the cyclists to pass through - it's about give and take. -

did u tune in to class 95 this morning? Glenn n FD were discussing about this topic. They received lots of smses regarding inconsiderate cyclist. As Wanda said, it shld be a give and take situation. I mean what have u got to lose by giving way and say delay ur journey for 3 seconds. Of course if the cyclist chooses to ride at full speed and not give u the chance to give way I would say it's his fault.

for those who ride at full speed, ought to be slapped.
for those who ring the bell crazily, ought to be scolded.
for those normal rider, lets just give way for 5s n carry on our journey.

bicycles are not lawful on the walkways.
Its in the traffic laws.
next time, just kick them onto the road and call police to come. -
whenever this happens to me, i will just ignore that person as every time i walk along a pavement, i would listen to my mp3 and pretend that i did not know somebody is behind me and i would walk at a much slower pace

The government give priority to motorcars. They spend millions of dollars for cars. Making tunnels, via ducts, link roads, and electronic signboard. Something must happen, then the government will do something. If something happen like a cyclist knock down a little child, and cripple the child. When the whole of Singapore is outraged, then the government will come out sympathetic.
Until then, things will carry on as usual. -
last time one malay youngster knocked into an old malay uncle, neber say sorry or wad, the malay uncle shouted at him all the way with all his might and threatened to report police.
next time dun be kind to em. i've my share of annoyances with those people.
why can't they juz be more considerate? not say cannot ride on PEDESTRIAN pavement la, but can dun so rude can anot? and dashed down some more, nearby got primary school oso. no safety knowledge at all.

The situation in Singapore is like this:
Government don't know what to do with cyclists who ride on pavements.
Although the law bans cycling on the pavement, we all know that pushing cyclists to the road will result in more traffic accidents and slower traffic flow. Since the government's priority is keeping road traffic smooth, it will push for stronger enforcement against cycling on pavements.
Personally, I prefer to cycle on the road. Yes, I do encounter many inconsiderate drivers when I cycle and feel like getting into a fist fight with them sometime. I think the government should increase road tax to discourage driving and encourage greener mode of transport like cycling. -
I just wish those cyclist just get out of the way on the road. Piss me off, always feel like knocking them down whenever i drive.

what's most irritating is that u already move to one side for the cyclist to pass but they still ring at you cos they cycling on the same side......wth...i already moved to one side, can't u move to the other??
