Tell them that you only live your life once. And try your best to persuade them.Originally posted by mrcoconut:i wanna do that, but afterall he's still my dad.

Likewise, so is design. What makes you think designers don't earn good money? Don't let archaic thought misguide you. I did law but my sister went on to do design. Her prints have made it into magazines, websites and clothes. Sure the money is not as good, but hey for an under 30 year old girl to be able to live in her own flat, drive a small car - I think that's pretty impressive and I'm damn proud when I see her work outside - I point to my colleagues and go, see that - that's done by my sister. Now she's playing with the idea of doing architecture (which she is going to fund herself). So it's never the end of the road even if you find you're in a course you don't like.

thanks for the suggestions, i'll get that planned out when i've time.[/quote]Originally posted by Wanda:There is potential within the design industry. wah seh, ur backOriginally posted by Uncertain:But there are a few things to consider:
Money vs Interest
U definitely won't want to starve due to ur interest pursue...
The fact i take accountancy as my course is not that i like accountancy.. is because i don't like lab work... have some interest in math... But then accountancy is not all about math, it involves a lot more... needs to base ur answer on judgement and all... which is somewhat not taught to us when we are in jc, sec or whatever...
In fact, i want to get a pHD in math but then... i need a undergrad degree from Uni... but then what can this useless degree does? Ur only option is becoming a teacher... which i don't like
Therefore, I take a accountancy and then pursue my interest in math later in my life, maybe getting a degree or do some research on it.
Therefore, do consider ur current position before pursuing ur interest.
hmm, this is just my humble opinion:Originally posted by mrcoconut:Currently, im in sec5 taking my O's this year.
Recently i told my dad that i wanted to go into an designing course in poly, if not get enrolled into nafa.
At first, i thought he would be able to accept my decision as its my interest and ultimately 'my future'.
But instead he strongly object and wanted me to go into a course that would allow me to bring bread to the table when i get a job.
This really troubles me, as im not the kind of person who's really interested in science and all.
Is it wrong to follow my interest?
Should i let my dad destroy my dream?
what if i was really able to make it big in the art industry, but because of his mentality everything had to be forgo.
trouble sigh
