haha i got this and it sucks, mine is kind of bad, i got ringing in my ears :SOriginally posted by honeymouse:Have a look at the link below to see if you have the symptoms. You might have to go and see a dentist. If it's really something to do with TMJ, neurofen might help for temporary measure to reduce the inflammation. Take care!

Oh, mine has been going on for about 9 months already.Originally posted by honeymouse:It will correct itself sometimes after a while. My husband got that a while back. He's ok at the moment but he knows one day he will have to go under the knife to fix it altogether.
Are you taking any anti-inflammatory like neurofen?Originally posted by sand king:Oh, mine has been going on for about 9 months already.
Hmm... i try not to open my mouth too big so that the bone does not move too much, that means yawn with smaller mouth
i dont think i got the cash to go for an opt so im just living with it, at the moment that is.
nope, i dont think mine is that serious, but it hurts alot when it get ''jammed''. And i read somewhere that one of the effects of TMJD is ringing in the ears which i haveOriginally posted by honeymouse:Are you taking any anti-inflammatory like neurofen?
It might help by taking anti-inflammatory tablets though to reduce the inflammation. If you do decide to take it, please make sure you have it with food.Originally posted by sand king:nope, i dont think mine is that serious, but it hurts alot when it get ''jammed''. Haha, im kinda used to the ringing already, yea i got an appoiment in dec, one doc told me that when the jaw ''pops'' or ''jams''. Take a towel and soak it in warm water then place it at the spot. It will sooth the muscles around it. :sOriginally posted by honeymouse:It might help by taking anti-inflammatory tablets though to reduce the inflammation. It must be so agonising for you to have the ringing in the ears. You should go to the doctor again.
You might have strained a jaw muscle. I experienced a similar thing over a year ago. I went to see a dentist at a polyclinic snd it turned out that I had been clenching my jaw too hard during sleep (stress or something), and this over-exerted my jaw muscles, resulting in the strain.Originally posted by WoBuPaNi:hi ive been having this really bad jaw pains for a week or so. it doesnt hurt when im talking but when i try to eat it hurts badly. i can say that my teeths are perfectly fine and i do not wear bracers. what can do about this jaw pain im having for over a week?
it is only the left part of the jaw that is painful the rightside of my jaw is perfectly normal. this pain came suddenly a week ago or so, now i dont know whether to see a GP or a dentist.![]()
haha yea! chewing gum helps!Originally posted by honeymouse:Ouch.... you poor thing. You definitely need to take something to reduce the inflammation. Little things help otherwise it can make the symptom worse.
Try to do some massage around that area with an ice pack (make sure there's no direct contact to your skin, use a towel to cover it) it might help too.
Chewing gum can help you to mobilise your jaw (some jaw exercise) too, but unfortunately Singapore has banned it.
Whatever it is, I hope the pain and the ringing in your ear will go.
Do you have any back problem?
I can't believe you can live with it for 9 months!!!Originally posted by sand king:haha yea! chewing gum helps!
I use 2 fingers to rub the muscle.
Thanks, i hope it will go off too, i hate to go to the ENT and letting them tell me that my brain is not able to filter out the soundMakes me feel stupid when i was told that the other time i went to see the ENT

It would drive me nuts.
The reason I ask if you have any back problem as TMJ can sometimes relate to another condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis.
Tried it, i even tried eating on the other side which is not affected, still liddat, soooo i dont open my mouth big big till the joint pops can already.Originally posted by shinta:try eating semi solid food for a few weeks or mths?
