The strange thing about lack of confidence about outward appearance is that - if given an opportunity to seriously change it, i.e. plastic surgery etc - not many people will opt for it.
Even investing lots of money to change hairstyle, change clothing attire or investing time to visit the gym, waste hours at the pool getting an even tan that will also give u skin cancer, etc - all these require loads of effort and most people are just dissatisfied with how they look without wanting to go through all these pain.
The reality is - deep down inside - we also have a little hope that we could be attractive despite how ordinary they look.
So which type are you? Are you willing to do all sorts of stuff to improve your appearance? Be warned - you may still have lack of confidence even after you look like damn good. Else you can spend more time cultivating your character and knowing you are someone who deserves a place on this earth - flaws and all.

This essentially is a discovery of your own strengths and the extent of those strengths.
Start with doing small things and doing them well. When you discover your success in doing small things well, learn to be proud of that achievement and move on to more challenging stuff. Repeat the same process in trying to get them done well.
Building self confidence is a step-by-step thing that has to be built. The success you get will drive you on to want greater sucesses. There is a multiplier effect......
Good luck!
