depressed with my results...

i have already been studying in ntu for a year.. this year seemed like a very bad year for me.. as usual i have been working hard for my studies but all my quizzes i have only done fairly well.. and i jus got back my maths results yest and i failed.. the rest of the class averaged 70/100.. and quizzes constitute 30% of exams..
i seriously dunno why.. i have been working very hard already.. but the results jus does not come out.. i am starting to think if i am really not smart at all.. feeling very depressed..
and exams are just 1 week away.. -

Don't worry lah, sometimes its like that. Its not that we are not smart. Its just that others are better at gaining results. It could be the way they study or other factors. As long as try your best can liao. Gain that cert, complete your studies then go to a different ballgame. Don't worry too much about results.

NTU is easy lah. try NUS
anyway. dun stdy like u did in JC. try to do all tutorials and past yrs and after that reflect on what u should focus on and what u should not.
i dun even go for lectures and tutorials still get passing grades.but not very good grades hor.....now getting called by all the top companies for interviews.
most important thing is ur resume and cover letter. so find ways to buck up ur resume such as goin exchange or joining societies, take up posts or go foreign conference for students. if no money ask from school.
dun give up hope. -

I am also studying in NTU and know what my Econ quiz gets 5/10, when i saw that i almost fainted although the lecturer very lousy la.
Seriously, it is how u study not how much u study. It is more beneficial spending an hour analysing a difficult question then do 4 simple question.
Tutorials only serve as a understanding platform, ultimately is ur ability to answer questions quick in exam that's matter.
Gd luck and work hard. What is done is done... that is what i tell myself everytime and i know even if i got 3rd class for my accountancy degree. i won't blame myself as i know i have worked hard. -

This proved that tests and quiz help you to buck up and in times, it is better to fail than to pass, as failing alerted u wake up and passes may make you slackened down.
Study on where u go wrong, for without failure, how can there be success.

my exam papers did very well..
but term assignments and test i alway do very badly compared to the others.. I got D for cmaths while most got a A
in the end, i still managed to get into the top 30% of the cohort, surpassing many in my class -
maths need lots of practice. but juz grit your teeth and try to work hard for the rest. i bet u don dare to fail any more tests after failing one, it applies to me -

but having seen quite a number of ppl saying that the course is good, and he being interviewed by the media..
perhaps he is really helping ppl out..

Aye, don't be disheartened.
Maths = concept + speed.
That's all you need. Speed wise i believe you have put in quite some effort since u said u worked hard i presumed you've done quite a bit of practice.
Concept wise, you must be able to sieve out the very fundamental-sort of like a generalisation to various problems instead of seeing every question as an individual problem.
Consult your prof immediately if you get stuck with certain parts of the course, it's ok to be shameless and ask alot of question. If it helps you can study together with your friends then can discuss with each other oso.
Ultimately, uni is not just about working hard, you gotta know what to work hard at. A blind mugger isn't what the society needs hence, it's not what the uni will provide.
P.S. i oso NTU 2nd year haha
