Hmm, I think online chat/forums/dating sites actually offers a good platform to expand your social circle and find someone who shares similar interests.
Like what fairlady said, fate will determine whether you'll meet the right one for you online.

My question: why would it not work?
It's pretty much the same as the traditional method of meeting new people- only the net replaces the mutual friend as the platform/vehicle for making that connection.
Can someone shed some insight on why it wouldn't work? sure, there's some doubt/trust issues in the beginning, but...

Online dating works. People who joined online dating are people who knows what they're seeking (relationship/marriage) and it's a good channel to match-make people to form couples.Online dating is just like any store for people's convenience, just like if you want to buy a Big Mac, you will naturally go to buy it from a McDonald's fast food outlet. If you want to seek a relationship, you will naturally go to find it in an Online dating website.

Online dating does work more more & more pple nowadays. Those are the ones who seek other attributes more than just a pretty face. Of cos, havin a pretty face & a good physical built wld definately be a bonus.
But alas, u just cant have the cake and eat it.

I wanna know as well :(An online relationship has to move on to a real-life level eventually. there's only so much of oneself that we can express online. Online communications and face to face talk is so different.
To me i categorised this kind of love as emotional/attachment feelings. Over the long time of chatting, you kind of feel attached to the other party even though you have not met before.
Whether is the party your true love or not, verdict will be out when both of you meet and start to get along. I mean some people do get disappointed when they have met each other, not in terms of looks but that of behaviour and attitude. To get along well with someone through chatting online doesn't mean you can get along with him well on a real-life level. -

If you started off a relationship on internet itself i doubt it will work...
but if you meet a person and becames friends then become couple might work... cus nowadays internet is a place to find real friends too...
