WHAT IS ALL THESE!!! is there a need to be so harsh wif soldiers??? so wad if tis is the military??? dun they realise the consequences of sending a person to jail or DB??? the person’s entire future is ruined!!! there r other forms of punishments they can use, yet they use those tat affect ppl’s future…

carelessness r part n parcel of life, yet they r so unsympathetic towards carelessness!!! 7 EXTRAS FOR LOSS OF PASS??? some even worse, EXTRAS FOR NT GREETING OFFICER!!! wad is all these!!! no wonder ahrdly anyone wants to sign on for army…insane n mindless punishments n miserable rewards!!! dun u guys agree?

btw, i have finished my NS alredi(thank God)...nw stil on holding list…juz voicing my grievances…

Truth be told, it's already a fact that this 2 years die die must serve... I just want to get my job done, serve my time and farewell conscription and will never even look back... So hopefully, my new bosses will recognize that I'm just another unwilling soldier, doing the job right... and leave me alone and don't give me daiji

i am nt saying tat punishments shld nt ge given…but i get the impression tat the one who came up wif the punishments to be given for various offences obviously opted for the easy way out. juz give the same punishments for all offences…has it ever cross the minds of MINDEF tat punishments shld be appropriate according to the offence??? n punishments r there to teach, guide n deter…when insane punishments like tat r given, do they teach or guide??? i feel they do…they teach us to be bitter n to hate serving the army…

i compare tis to the punishments in schools…while i have come across teachers punishing students when they r bad…how often do they mete out punishments tat make students bitter abt going to sch n to hate schooling??? military punishments shld be harsher but nt by such a big margin!!! it shld learn to be more forgiving…we r nt even toking abt drug trafficking, murder, rape or loss of weapons…surely they shld revise the pnishments given out to minor offences???

hmm well this is a military organisation...where emphasis is placed on respect, regimentation and obedience of orders. it has to start from the basics, such as greeting an officer, such that it will be instilled in you that we have to listen and obey those of higher rank. imagine during war when you have been told to do one thing but you do another, or question the decision. No war can be successfully and efficiently fought that way. but i do agree its a little harsh, esp the DB part. i heard no uni will accept you after tt rite?

Please go and read Sun Zi's art of war, 1st chapter.

In a real war, one single mistake can possibly make you lose the war.

these punishments are given out so that u will not repeat it again since u will feel the pain. but for my side, they threaten with fine and extras. usually it's either one. depends on u the fked up kind or not. u fked up, extra.

Actually nowadays very power.  They ask u sign extra, u call mindef hotline n complain u feel stressed and intimidated.  Nvm ppl call u ball-less or kuniang, as long as u keep ur weekends free.

u must be really suay. its usually the first impression that counts la.. carelessness all these, left a bad impression already.. i bet u must be like a walking target board in camp, ready to kena arrowed for saikang and extras for every little mistake u make...

its always about first impressions, private sector and army, both also the same.

Dude, these are MAJOR offences, and the punishment is already very light. Loss of pass = Unknown people can sneak onto camp. Sleeping during guard duty = same thing. Late = Mission fail. Don't you realise the consequences of being lax in security and discipline? Within the past year we already had the CPL Dave Teo Ming incident and now this terrorist incident. So now both the Army and the Police have cases of lax security. Carelessness is part and parcel of life, true, but when these careless actions lead to death, or the escape of dangerous people, then you will realise how lightly you got off. You think the world is a nice and peaceful place? Wake up your idea!
