Aston Villa (AST) now believes that their skipper, Gareth Barry, a 27 years old left-footed midfielder, worth 20M.
i personally think that this price tag is simply too much. at the age of 28, with not much experience of european football, a price tag as such is too expensive. Moreover, we suggested a swap+cash deal, but they don want it. They are currently interested in Peter Crouch, we rate him at 15M, which i personally thinks abit too much too. Maybe 12M will be something more reasonable.
But AST rejected all bids on barry, claiming he will not move to anywhere below 20M.
this are the information i gathered :
The Reds' improved offer, reportedly in the region of £15million, was turned down by the midlands club.
The Guardian says Villa will resist Liverpool's attempts to sign Barry for around £15m, with Martin O'Neill determined that the price for the England player should be closer to £20m. The Villa manager is resigned to losing Barry, after accepting that the midfielder wishes to play Champions League football next season, but he is adamant that the 27-year-old will not be allowed to leave unless Liverpool return with a significantly improved bid.

G.Barry will 100% going to Anfield , his heart is set on UCL .
At the end of the day , 20 million asking price , 15 valuation , a deal of in between will be set .
I would say $17.5 million , although a bit too much , but for 4 years contract , depreciation about 4 million per yr , it's ok la for a financial strong Liverpool .
We got 4 miilion for Riise , 10 million for Alonso ..... should be like 2 players for 1 .

Barry a natural left footer ma .... we always have problem in our left midfield slot .That why Riise was off-loaded to Roma .
if u saw what he did for England , then u'll know why Rafa signing him , cos he has got a splendid vision .
And he also got a good football brain like Gerrard .
I think @ 17 million pounds for an established English player , it's a good deal .

And also Barry can play anywhere in the centre , defensive midfielder , Sweeper , play-maker , right sife , left side , Barry is quite versatile .
Meaning Rafa can shuffle him with Gerrard and create a sensation to our already very good midfield .

Forward : Torres / Kuyt / Babel etc ....
No guarantee the title , hope good enough to give the Top-3 a fight this time .

i donno what rafa thinking seriously, one moment he say no $ buy barry, scali next week buy keane liao, somemore 19.3m. i think this is wtf. i thought he should have gone for quaresma, who is more of creative and pacy, furthermore, can cut through defenders with more intelligence, and the best thing is, he cost only 18.3m, + the experience he had in the CL, and also he played for big club before. surely this will be a better deal right? somemore liverpool really need a winger who can really play. but too bad lah, only inter got him already.
