hi, i've received notice to report to BRTC on 8/4/08.
i'm pes A and i dunno what to expect. which likely vocation?
i'm quite down receiving the notice. all my life prepared to go army then now to scdf, will never get to tell tekong stories. then go do what? fight fire, dig up the rubbles of hotel new world?
and seeing the threads here is seems to suggest discipline is lax. i'm worried about getting along with people.
i dunno about booking out times too.
what is learnt specifically during BRT?
can anyone enlighten me? thanks.Edited by sir_peanuts 06 Oct `07, 11:09PM

Wow, you're in pes A then you sure kena all those "fit" type of vocations like fire fighting for example & you won't get to dig rubbles of hotel new world coz there's none to start with...
During recruit time, depends on which company you are in so you really can't say that discipline is lax & just relax, go with the flow & remember if you expect others to be friendly/respect you then you must take the first step...
Regarding booking out times, for SCDF the good thing is that there's no confinement so you'll most likely book in on a Tuesday & book out on the Friday of the same week...
As for what is learnt during BRT stage is all the basic rescue techniques as well as the basic first aid & CPR...
Hope the above mentioned will clear some of your doubts & do feel free to ask anything & I'll try my very best to get them answered

because we make a difference whether the people we help live or die.
we are the ones who stands in between the casualty and the gates of hell.
we are the ones who rush into the fire, when everyone rushes out.
we are the ones who will dance where the devil lives.

in the army there's OCS which i've always been aiming for. now it's obviously impossible.
is there an
equivalent in SCDF?yep.
when i passed out from the ERS course, i was selected for interview for BOC Basic Officer Course. It was an additional 3 months to my 6 mths.
I refused them.
(after all, i
just went through hell, i didn't want to go back there so soon)

nope. i still served 2 years.
ok, my logic was this,
if i pass out, i would be earning $1200 per mth immediately. that would mean $3600 for the 3 mths i would be spending in BOC.
BOC pass out their allowance is $1400? just $200 more than what i will be earning per mth.
so i calculate like this la. i will be serving, 18 mths after ERS training. that would be $21600 in total.
if i went on to BOC, i'm only earning $350 for 3 more mths. that's $1050.
And 15 mths of $1400, and that's $21000, totally it to $22050
Fug.. they earn more in the end. i miscalculate!!!
