Hi guys, as the title says, I've already received the enlistment letter. I will be enlisting on the 9th of september, into SCDF. Its weird that they gave me the letter this early.
Well I have a few queries to ask.
1) I heard there is no such thing as confinement period in SCDF, whereby I'm allowed to have my first book-out on the first friday. Is this true? Does this apply to both PTP and BRT?
2) I'm malay, for all muslim is it ok if you give me some feedbacks for stuff like friday prayers, and normal prayers. Also on the 9th of september, is also the ramadhan month, has anybody experience PTP or BRT during the ramadhan fasting month ?
3)I'm short sighted, I understand that I have to wear a black frame spectacle into camp. Also does me being short sighted have any effect on the chances of me getting into a fire fighter vocation?
4)What is your overall experience in SCDF like?5) other things/ advice that you may want to add?

1) Yes, there's no confinement (book in on a Tues & book out on the Fri)
2) For friday prayers, during my intake they did provide a shuttle bus for those who wishes to go for their Fri prayers but I'm not sure if they still have it now.
3) For your specs frame, its either black or blue with no fanciful type of designs or whatsoever & yes, it will definately affect your chances of getting a vocation of a fire fighter.
4) A very rewarding experience is all that I can say.
5) Do whatever you want but don't get caught..

And not to forget me , im the 107th intake , 29th ERS
Great that you want to be a firefighter , but be prepared for tough training
Btw what your PES ? if you posted to ERS or FFC , most likely you will be posted to CDA on your 1st week of BRTC , meaning skipping the 7week BRT stage
Oh btw , SCDF dont have any yellow box , meaning no smoking is allow , if you want smuggle in , better dont get caught

well, regarding the eyesight it depends on what vocation & if they are strict about it or not otherwise it should be fine..
got to stress this again - being ambulance medic for your vocation is really gd..
