I received a phone call from one of the 5star hotel in Singapore after I sent in my resume for job application.... What a stupid HR department for asking such stupid questions....
Interviewer: We have received your application for the position of 'xxxx'. Just want to check some information with you before we proceed your application.....
Me: Yeah, sure, no problem...
Interviewer: Ok... Are you Singaporean?
Me: No, I'm not.... (ps: don't I stated clear in my nationality that I am a Malaysian?)
Interviewer: Oh, you are not a Singaporean? Are you a PR?
Me: No, I'm not...
Interviewer: Oh, you are not even a PR?? So are you in the process in apply the PR?
Me: No, I'm not (ps: huh???
Interviewer: Oh, so you are still a Malaysian?
Me: Yes, I am still a Malaysian...

well, good question (or stupid question?).... why don't you asked every foreigners who is currently working or job seeking in Singapore the same question and see what they answer u?
why u sound like it's 'funny' for Malaysian seeking hotel job in Singapore? Does it against the law? Or else stop asking such funny question, or perhaps u can setup a new topic: why foreigner wants to work in SIngapore..
Cheers

lol, the way u talk seems this country doesn't like foreigner to come eh... :)
whatever, just want to give a try, it's undeniable that this country is good for working, i mean good place to strengthen the working base... I believe that's what alot of people want, besides those only here for seeking different currency.... :)
Singapore is awesome, I like it... Although alot people said it's a stressful and very competitive country, but I believe it's all depends on personal, whether you can take it or not. If you could take it, you will getting better, if not, you gotta leave.... That's how we build ourselves, to become better....

I think its great that you want to work in Singapore to see our working culture as a form of challenging yourself. I think Malaysians like to work here alot due to better pay etc... and as long you are competent, it doesnt matter if you are malaysian or what.
However, your attitude is another issue. I think it shows a lack of maturity when you called another party stupid especially one that could be your potential employer.
So there, its good you want to come to work in Singapore but check your attitude. Nobody owes you a living.
