http://www.sgforums.com/forums/1504/topics/315933 en-US 60 <p>mayday mayday..</p> Tue, 29 Apr 2008 19:31:50 +0800 www.sgforums.com:1504:315933:8048113 stellazio http://www.sgforums.com/forums/1504/topics/315933 <p><cite class="">AP - <span>Tuesday, April 29</span></cite></p> <h1 class="">Singapore Airlines plane reports engine trouble, lands safely in India</h1> <p>SINGAPORE - A Singapore Airlines flight to Paris was diverted to India because one of its two engines appeared to be in trouble, Singapore's national carrier said Monday.</p> <p>A failure warning prompted the pilot to shut down the left engine of the Boeing 700-300ER and redirect the flight to New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday, Singapore Airlines said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press.</p> <p>The plane landed safely and none of the plane's 235 passengers and 17 crew were injured, said Stephen Forshaw, the carrier's spokesman.</p> <p>"Singapore Airlines made arrangements for customers to continue on their journey to Paris using a relief aircraft, which was dispatched to Delhi shortly after that," Forshaw said.</p> <p>Forshaw said an investigation into the plane's GE90 engine, manufactured by General Electric Co., found that the fault was in the gearbox and that the engine was being replaced.</p> <p>General Electric officials were not immediately available to comment Monday.</p> <p>The aircraft is expected to return to service after the engine has been changed, he said.</p> Tue, 29 Apr 2008 19:31:14 +0800 www.sgforums.com:1504:315933:8048110 QX179R http://www.sgforums.com/forums/1504/topics/315933
