why and how is it some people got ability to see ghosts?

was it because they were ghosts in past lives or have some ability in their past life that were brought to this life, or that they have the so called third eye?

can these people who can see ghost seek help that can close such an eye?
i dun think its a boon to them, they rather they can see ghosts isnt it

Many people who gained the ability to see ghosts are mistaken that their cultivation is very strong. In reality, most cases of being able to see ghosts are due to 1) Other ghosts aiding them in the ability to see ghosts. 2) Past lives, the are ghosts. (not uncommon) Both of them are 'spirit eyes'. Some people become very attached to these abilities and obstruct their own dharma practise. They may become attached to say, communicating with the other realm. Of course those who have deep samadhi, attained high jhanas, these people can see other realms.. but this is actually relatively very rare and does not constitute most of the cases of being able to see ghosts.

There was a time (about 9 years back) when I would have given anything just to be able to see ghosts... Well, not just any ghost, but the ghost of my father, who was then recently deceased.

I didn't get the chance to bid him a proper farewell. You see, when he was at his death bed in ICU, I took a short break and stepped outside the hospital to buy myself a piece of bread. He was already gone when I came back about 10min later. This is one of the greatest regrets of my life.

So I did the next best thing I could and went on a 49-day vegetarian diet and dedicated all the merits to him.

Yes best you can do is to dedicate merits to your father, say on Ullambana Dharma days... every year Through offering sanghas, attending pujas, attending Ullambana ceremonies to dedicate the merits.

Thanks..but is he likely to have already been reborned after all these years? Would those dedication still help him?

I donate money annually in prayer sessions for deceased organized by the Buddhist temple in which my father's tablet was housed. Is this one of the ways you have mentioned?

yes it will help. transferance of merits to deceased works in mysterious ways.
why not donate money to help print dhamma books, or help chip in to building a temple. this is a great meritorious act one can give to the deceased.

I have some encounter with ghost and spirit ..

I can sense ghosts. And when I am aware of that, the ghost's image will form in my mind.

Also I will feel a lost of energy after that. This is not a good thing isnt it?

maybe u got the ability to see ghost. maybe u were ghost or deva in yr past life, maybe u still possess tt kinda deva/spirit eye to this world

not only that, i also have 'glimpses' of the future. Always have dejavu feelings very very frequently that it is disturbing.

sometimes i just tell people that this and this will happen, ask them do this and that to prevent, etc.

now i just keep these things to myself and sleep most of the time to escape from reality

probably the only freaky thing i experienced was this dark greenish head with no eyes and its jaws open preparing to devour somebody.

Yes thats right. Even if your father have become reborn in celestial/heaven realms, they will still receive merits. So whether or not they are reborn somewhere else, it's good to dedicate merits to your father and other relatives every Ullambana Dharma.

Usually we dedicate the merits of offering Sangha gifts (there can be many kind of gifts, incl food, robes, depends... you can check out) as well as the merits of attending the ullambana dharma's puja. And yes the merits of donating money whether for dharma or sangha can also be dedicated to the deceased..

I know many people who can see ghost. One of them work in hospital, the ghost knows that he can see them and sometimes purposely go and approach him (stare at him or talk to him for a short moment). Strange thing is the way they stand is always 90 degrees diagonal to him.
He is a christian but he wear thai amulet, he said that the amulet helps him to keep these spirit away. He admit that these ghost doesn't harm him so far but he just feel scared.
Another thing is, whatever he does be it good or bad, he gets retribution very fast.

jus wondering..how come it seems most of the powerful amulets come from thai?

My wking place got tree spirits...butterfly spirits...monkey god...dancing ghosts....lol etc
