      Hi, how r u?

I'll be away for that week, so I'll pay visit to the Buddhist temples overseas.

I usually will give offerings to the Triple Gems, or give donations( not huge, lah).

    • On Vesak day, we should try to fulfill Buddha wish. The Buddha wish is to see one trying to kill or reduce the different types of defilements.I'm thinking of Buddha's gratitude to show the correct Dhamma path for us. To show the correct path for us, Buddha has practised the donation such as donation of blood more than amount of ocean, donation of eyes more than numbers of infinite stars in the sky and donation of flesh and organ more than amount of ground earh material in his previous million of lifes before becomes .

    • Just a reflection: I feel that while Vesak Day is a joyous occasion, perhaps we can also think about the needy and help them to partake in the joy of Vesak Day?  I've read the article about due to the increasing food prices, there are more people going to Buddhist Lodge for meals.  Perhaps we can donate money or food to organisations giving free meals to the needy?

      From ABC :

Our Vesak Day celebrations over the many years have benefited many people, enabling them to create merit and purify their negativities through acts such as offering and homage to the Three Jewels. Through performing these and other virtuous activities at our celebrations, many seeds have been planted in their minds to achieve liberation and enlightenment. It is a time when people come into contact with the Buddha's teachings and for many, the start of their spiritual journey to enlightenment. Having a successful celebration means benefitting people. More success means more benefit to many more people.

We are honoured to have Khen Rinpoche, Lama Lhundrup (Abbot of Kopan Monastery) and the Kopan monks around again this Vesak to conduct the pujas at the celebration.

The celebrated Stages of the Path ( Tibetan : Lam Rim ) teachings represent a synthesis of the entire path to enlightenment. Presented in a clear & concise way , they are easy to understand & apply in our daily lives. Based on Lama Tsongkhapa’s ‘ Condensed Stages of the Path ‘ . Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup will explain the essential practices of the ‘ beings of the three scopes ‘ , including correct guru devotion , renunciation , the altruistic wish for enlightenment & the view of the middle way.

      Venue : Amitbha Buddhist Centre , 44 Lorong 25A Geylang , Tel : 6745 8547

      Dates  : 23th May ( Fri ) 7.30pm , 25th May ( Sun ) 2pm , 27th May (Tue) 7.30pm , 29th May ( Thur) 7.30pm , 3rd June (Tue) 7.30pm , 5th June (Thur) 7.30pm

      ·         A long life punja will be offered to Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup on 1st June (Sun) at 9.30am.

    • You can see lots of tentages erected for the celebrations in many HDBs' estates.  Its good to bring the celebrations to the masses but it is also getting to be too commercialised. I would give it a miss...
