How does one know a person is a real arahant/bodhisattva?
Well, it depends on what's your motivation in knowing one. Anyway, technically it is difficult for laypersons to know, even practictioners may also find it difficult in identifying one.
However, the easiest way in identifying a Arhat or Bodhisattva is through long time observations or practising under a good Guru.
The most misleading way is of cos, by word of mouth.

can look for Ven ChungXi 传喜法师.
the way i see it, i kind of see a really Well cultivated Masters, in a very special way. how? even spirits go and look for them for liberation.
in my mind there's late Master Guang Ching(fruit monk), late Master Yin Guang, old Master Chin Kung and this Ven ChungXi 传喜法师. the rest i'm not so sure, they are good. just that i think they are the ones that are really compassionate and that the spirits/ghosts know that they can really really Help them liberate from the suffering of the hungry ghost realm.
even those spirits from the indonesia tsunami went to look for Ven ChungXi 传喜法师, which i think they "spiritually" saw that He's really well cultivated. amazing.

We are bodhisavatta to be or arhart to be, it takes time to be become one.

許多人都說現在是末法時代。何謂末法？就是人人都會說「三界唯心、萬法唯識」的道理，卻不真正相信它！法自是法，世界仍是世界，眾生仍是眾生，自己還是自己，於事相上起種種分別心、不平等心，自惹煩惱，自造罪業，自受輪迴。既知萬法唯識，那麼要正法住世，也很簡單，確確實實深深相信「一切唯心造」，成佛成魔皆由此心，正法末法也由此心，由此入門，如修天台空、假、中三觀，或是禪宗頓悟法門，修無修修，念無念念，到無念無作，非修非證，「遇緣即施，緣息即寂」，「心不住於身，身亦不住心，而能作佛事，自在未曾有」，那就是如來住世，正法不滅了。要正法住世，人人可為，人人應為，只從自己當下這一念心開始！
Need not be someone who is prominent in that religion could be a bodhisavatta, anybody in this world can be one, of coz we ourselve oreadi are one to be, if we practise bodhisavatta way.

许多人不知道烟的由来，认为佛陀的五戒中没有烟戒，所以抽烟应该没什么关系。其实吸烟的危害远胜于杀、盗、淫诸罪，今天这里有七位吸烟者，所以我就给大家讲讲烟的由来，你们要好好听。
在释迦牟尼佛转法轮时，有个诽谤佛法僧三宝、破戒的弟子，她心生忿恨，就发愿：将来一定要在人间留下恶种子，让众生无法修学佛法！由于她发的是毒愿，所以力量特别大。她魔心不歇，死后就成了魔，企图再次阻挠释迦牟尼佛转法轮度众生，她准备把魔与魔女所生的蛋带到人间佛法最兴盛的地方 ----印度。当她快到印度的时候，因为释迦牟尼的佛光普照，无法进去。五百年间正法兴盛，她一直没有机会。释迦牟尼佛涅槃五百年以后，她又想出来兴风作浪，当她刚从地里出来时，就遇到西南方向莲花生的佛光，又无法进来。可她并未就此罢休，就把魔蛋捏碎，磨成粉后洒在虚空中，随风吹到了与印度毗邻的城市。第二年，那儿就长出一种非常奇异的草----这就是烟草。后来被一个五百多岁的婆罗门老人发现。她心想，自己活了五百多年，从未见过这样的异草，觉得很稀奇，所以就把草拔回，拿到印度一个城市里贩卖。这城市有个魔所化现的妓女，她一见到这种草，马上生起强烈的贪恋之心，花高价买下了。随后她把这种草点燃，熏吸，觉得浑身舒服，接着便开始引种，由于她的魔力，第二年就获得了丰收，此后便一传十、十传百地种植、吸食开来。那时还没有制成现在的香烟，只是研成细粉，用鼻子吸，或者搅着吃，也有人点燃熏身。藏族人抽烟是用鼻子吸，许多人便由此不得解脱。以上主要是根据莲花生大师专论“烟的由来”的开示而谈。
为什么吸了烟就无法解脱呢？因为烟专门熏染人的中脉。按密续所说：人死的时候，明点要从中脉的顶端出去才能解脱。抽烟会闭塞顶轮的脉结，临终时明点无法从顶门走。所以莲花生大师一再说：吸烟者无法解脱，而且必堕无疑。再者，抽烟的人令诸佛菩萨皆不欢喜，一切护法也都远离他。现在末法时代的众生，不知道它的危害，对烟就是恋恋不舍。
