      Cat has Wings! Razz

      image

A Chinese woman claims her cat has grown wings.

Granny Feng's tom cat has sprouted two hairy 4ins long wings, reports the Huashang News.

"At first, they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly, and after a month there were two wings," she said.

Feng, of Xianyang city, Shaanxi province, says the wings, which contain bones, make her pet look like a 'cat angel'.

Her explanation is that the cat sprouted the wings after being sexually harassed.

"A month ago, many female cats in heat came to harass him, and then the wings started to grow," she said.

However, experts say the phenomenon is more likely down to a gene mutation, and say it shouldn't prevent the cat living a normal life.

    • The waterspout reported on the news just now:

      image

Taken by yours truly from St Patrick's estate at the East Coast region. This is about 800m from shore.

I've seen waterspouts out at sea before, but never one this big and this close to shore. Shocked

A waterspout can be regarded as a tornado out at sea. The tornado sucks the water up its funnel, leading to the formation of a waterspout.

It's less destructive than a normal land tornado.... I suppose the density and viscosity of the water reduces the destructive capabilities.

That said, it can still damage ships and pose a danger to swimmers.

    • pic of the night.. i think it's been photoshopped...

      image

Some boy was supposed to have killed this wild pig.

The hog weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. If claims of the animal's size are true, it would be larger than 'Hogzilla,'' the huge hog killed in Georgia in 2004.

    • i think it's photoshopped.. the pig is fuzzy while the boy is clear.. and he's 'leaning' on the hair of the pig.. which isn't squashed down

      Family? Shocked What family?

The cage door is open when I am home, so he gets to fly around the house. He'll usually be perched on my shoulder or close to where I am, except when he's back in his cage eating or playing with his toys therein.

Didn't you say you were considering getting a cat?

Oh, sorry! Thought you lived with someone! Razz

Your bird sounds like a pretty obedient and well-behaved bird. Wink

I would love to have a cat or two, but my landlord doesn't allow pets and besides, it's kinda cruel to keep a cat in my small apartment. My current apt is smaller than the rented HDB 3-room apt I used to live in. That's really too small a space for a cat. The cat will go crazy! Laughing

      a 17-year cicada... Very Happy

it is postulated that the cicada reached a 17 year life cycle because it's a prime number.. to get away from a predator which specialised on it...

as it extended its life cycle by a year, so did the predator after a while.. but always lagging until it got its life cycle to match it...

but at year 16, it jumped to 17 while its predator was stuck at 16.. after 16x17=272 years, the predator died out...

    • it's a cicada.. they spend 17 years of their lives living off the sap of trees underground, mature then come out, make a lot of noise, breed, lay eggs then die...

other cicadas have 13 years or life cycles of prime numbers...

so it is theorised that they had predators or parasites with similar length of life cycles..

say, the parasite has a life cycle of 2 years, then the cicada will want to avoid a life-cycle which is divisible by 2.. if the parasite has a life cycle of 3 years, then the cicada wants to avoid a life-cycle which is divisible by 3..

if the parasite has a 2 year life-cycle, the cicada, having a 17 year life-cycle, will only meet every 34 years.. and so on.. if the parasite has a 16 year life-cycle, they will only meet every 272 years..

in order to fight back, the parasite has only 2 life-cycles to increase the frequency of coincidences.. it has 2 ways.. get an annual life cycle or reach a 17 year life-cycle..

if annual, there are no cicadas for it to feed on for 16 life-cycles..

if it tries to get to a 17 year life-cycle, it would need to evolve through the 16 year life-cycle then jump to 17... which means at some stage of the evolution, they do not meet for 272 years.. by then, the parasite would probably have died out Razz
