THINGS went horribly wrong for a salesman when he tried to prevent three thieves from cannibalising his Proton Wira.
His shouts stopped them momentarily.
Far from being startled, the rogues abducted the newlywed 26-year-old and made off in his car.
Not only did they rob him, the men - dissatisfied with their loot - returned to his home and raped his wife, reported The New Straits Times.
The drama started at 6.30am on Monday morning in Kota Damansara, a Kuala Lumpur suburb, as the salesman was about to head to work.
He confronted the men when he saw them trying to remove the tyres of his parked car.
But instead of fleeing, the car thieves rushed at him and overpowered him.
They grabbed his keys, bundled him into the car boot and drove to an ATM in Klang where they forced him to withdraw money for them.
Angry at the measly RM150 ($304) he handed over, the robbers tied him up and dumped near a lake in Shah Alam.
Before driving off, the men took the keys to his Palm Springs condominium, planning to ransack his apartment.
At 11.30am, they drove past the condominium's guardhouse without any hassle as they had the access card .
When the men entered the unit, they found the salesman's 24-year-old wife fast asleep in a room.
While one of the robbers ransacked the apartment, the other two took turns to rape the woman.
She later told police that the two suspects raped her at least twice.
The crooks took RM3,000, a handphone and the keys to the woman's Perodua Kelisa before tying her up.
The brazen crooks remained in the apartment for 2 1/2 hours before leaving at 2pm, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Then, just as boldly as they arrived, the men left the condominium compound.
They drove both cars past the condominium guards, who did not even give them a second glance.
Petaling Jaya deputy chief Superintendant Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the salesman managed to free himself several hours later and went to the Shah Alam police to report the case.
'His wife lodged a separate report at the Damansara police station. She was then sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for an examination,' said Superintendant Abdul Rahman.
ACCESS CARD
He said: 'We are trying to ascertain how they got the access card into the condominium. When they initially arrived at 6.30am, they had the access card with them.
'The card could have been stolen from other residents or they could have inside help.'
The police believe it was the work of a wanted gang which preyed on vehicle parts in the township, reported The Sun.
The police will be questioning the security guards, some of whom are foreigners.
