how do private investigators/ eyes work ?

One handles legalised confidential work. Simply put, no one knows his whereabouts.
My question is- how does one know if he's being followed , photographed etc.?
Investigators, care to drop a hint or two? -
i tried to ask one before.. he told me.. professional secret

It's isn't so straight-forward, like those that one sees in TV drama etc.
Like a couple of people hanging around the person-being-investigated.. Communicating through ear-pieces, looking through binoculars etc.
It's way stupid, non-logical. -

Plus, wear sweater, wear jackets, etc.. And use those small small video cams to get evidence... If ppl catch, make sure you got a good excuse. -

they have their means n modes of tailing without being exposed.
they are just like anyone of us, so normal n doing usual stuff but they caught u off guard.
basically n seriously, i wont noe if i am being tailed coz its just so drama and comical.
