Want to be a Comfort Hirer ? replied by ALN @ Sun, 06 Jul 2008 04:55:29 +0800

helo Drive,

to be hirer or be relief?... depends on which nites you want to
drive… Also weekends, u r driving?

to be a relief…all nites except Fri nites should no problem at
all getting a hirer to let you drive… esp Mon/Tue/Sun nites….
hirers will be queuing up to have you… but if you want Fri nite,
then a bit hard…

to be a hirer, just the opposite loh… hard to get relief esp for
Mon/Tue/Sun nite

my suggestion, start being a relief… if you can find all the
days that you want to drive, then why be a hirer? hirer still must
go servicing and got rental stress…

good luck

hi,

1- if u are observant, you'll find more private cars than
taxis doing this.

2- most times becos of pax flagging taxis suddenly or asking
cabby to "stop here", otherwise MOST taxi drivers will filter to
the appropriate lane prior to picking up or letting pax alight. Due
to the nature of the service, expect sudden stops and drive
defensively when following a taxi is best.

3- this one also equally bad on private cars, esp the expensive
makes. should be in the minority for cabbies as rice bowl easily
broken when caught.

4- company policy lor. must not accept liability otherwise MAY
get sacked and also may end up paying for everything out of own
pocket. Let the insurance companies and/or traffic police
investigate. Truth will out, cos every traffic got either red light
camera or monitoring camera (round ones). No way to escape. Unless
suay happened in carpark or unmonitored roads. this case normally
50/50.

and..yes i drive a taxi too.

I was lucky to pass my test at the 1st sitting after spending 2
weeks on the online course. The most challenging part for many was
the embassy locations. You really have to memorise the locations,
and not only those in the Nassim areas. Pay attention during the
excursion too. If you are conscientious then the other sections
should not be a problem.

Good Luck!

Want to be a Comfort Hirer ? replied by Drive @ Fri, 04 Jul 2008 10:30:50 +0800

Hi again.

Did my med checkup at the Healthway clinic at Hougang point
($25++) and X-ray at Ang Mo Kio St 42 ($12.80) yesterday.
Will be collecting the X-ray results today at 3pm, before heading
to Sin Ming to register for the online training. Hopefully can be
orientated by tonite so can start the course ASAP.

ALN, thanks for the little calculation in your post. Understand
now it's not worth it to drive just a few hours after my classes.
Better if I let-out after 5pm if I'm the hirer. Or take your advice
and just do relief in the day. Would like to drive on weekend nites
too. I think it'll be easier if I hire and let out on the days I'm
not driving, then to hope to find a hirer willing to let a relief
drive on the hot nights. Am I right?

you want to be your own hirer, very reasonable mah... you asking me
whether worth it to go from houg to airport or semb at 730am? Of
course not! At morning peak, when u start your engine, already got
calls dropping on you like atomic bomb (if comfort lah)... not
comfort also pple rushing to take your taxi to work... jam
unavoidable... i think you should really drive as relief for at
least few weeks then commit to be hirer...

I am staying Hougang. I think rental low like $74
for prime very tempting if base on $11000 over 5 years :

Comfort $94, prime $74 = $20/day (cheaper than comfort) =
$7300/year if quit for 1 year maybe save $2000 ($7300-$5000) ,
furthermore CNG cheaper than Diesel, What u think worth for a
try ?

Heard Driver from Transcab, T.Wish = $105 GST *365=
$38325, Incentives = $355 per month*12=$4260

$38325-$4260 = $34065/365= $94 per month

I think act as a private car sometime good.

my friend told me alot of people 7am to 9am taking cab
nonstop from sembawang MRT to chartered semi-conductor at
woodland, it is worth drive all the way to there instead of taking
customer to town with jam somemore?

TransCab wish is with gst $99.51 .

Mthly $260 if OMO , with relief $190 , and relief gets $70 .

I once calculated , Prime the 5 years contract fella regret ,

helo zone,

OMO? 7am-1pm, 6-11.30pm… almost perfect
timing imo… if can try to start at 445pm for second shift and pia
to town… cos before 5pm no jam.. at 6pm.. everywhere jam and
HDB no demand… i assume u stay HDB lah.. if you stay nassim then i nothing to say…

Prime must pay refundable 5K deposit… but you get 11k+5k back
after 5 years. that’s all.

Transcab wish $93 nett? our poolman also thinking of that. How
is the exact scheme like i.e. rental, rental free day, subisdied
CNG pump location and pump price,
bonuses?

My advice.. if you have some taxi experience, and u confirm
going for long term… prime is best… but you still new leh… later
you find not suitable… try comfort relief for few weeks… if like
it.. take prime or transcab if the scheme is better loh…

once i also thought of taking prime as my private car plus
taxi…

Monthly income? a very lazy taxi driver will get $1.5K. You do
your own maths
